Private enterprise doesn’t make those war decisions, our elected officials do.

“Private enterprise doesn’t make those war decisions, our elected officials do.”

with influence from those private enterprise who make bank on those decisions. But since private enterprises knows better than government, who’s to argue. God forbid that govt stands in the way of private companies willing to make a buck.

I had the best rebuttal ever, but my senile cat just erased it and I hadn’t saved it. Literally one word away, now poof!!!

God forbid the government stand in the way of private companies willing to make a buck. Right On!

Lets just make certain they are fairly regulated and not overly taxed.

So, Jamminj, were you for Solyndra getting all their government dough, just to fail? If Bush had messed with companies as much as the Big O has, you would have been calling him a Fascist.

The current Fascist in Chief did not close Gitmo, He has turned Afghanistan (The Good War) into a quagmire. The Arab Spring has turned into a nightmare, especially for women. When Iran was in turmoil he stayed out of it. He irritates our allies and bows to enemies who throw it back in his face. He is going to give Russia secrets and arms cuts without concessions from them. He is a dove unless he backs “freedom fighters” like his father was. His actions do not betray a patriotic president. No, they betray a political animal set on changing this country anyway possible.

I don’t trust him. At times I think he is a fool, other times a calculating ideologue, but I can’t tell. But hey, lets fill out our brackets.

rich: i’m not sure where you get your news, but i think you have a distorted view of what’s happening, not only here, but around the world.

by the way, solyndra got a fraction of the dough we give big oil every year. and just like big oil subsidies, it was a mistake. our government has a long history of throwing good money after bad, so to latch onto that and drag it out every couple of days is petty. let it go, dude.

that’s not to say that i don’t believe in giving monetary incentives to alternative energy companies to kick-start research and development. i do. strongly. the fossil fuels industries have a stranglehold on energy production in this country, and it’s damn-near criminal.

so you don’t think POTUS is the least bit altruistic, huh? that everything he says and does is self-serving?

that’s not the vibe i get from the man. i see a smart, capable, and compassionate man.

and, yeah, i see a politician. he wouldn’t be there is he wasn’t, and in my opinion, that’s a lot of what’s wrong with our system.

it does sound like a bit of projection on your part, though. why do you expect a democrat to govern like a republican, anyway? and it’s not like republicans aren’t ideologues, or that their ideology is The One True Way.

    kootch..

do you even read your own links?

that “stimulus” money includes things like medicare which is distributed in a not so direct formula per capita… which means that states with larger populations will get more money than states with smaller populations.

if you want to talk stimulus money please provide a link that at least bows to that pool of money…

HMC Rich doesn’t think it’s enough that our president govern like a Republican.. because Obama pretty much does..

He wants him to be a republican that the current hard line right wing congress can manipulate like sock puppy.

Afghanistan is “the good war”? Seriously? We have been there for 10 years..it’s been a quagmire since the beginning. And the thanks we get? Karzai likes us? Um..no..

we need to be gone from there…

No redblack… only one dude pulls the trigger. He sits in the White House.. he’s the one who decides. Quote Harry.. “The Buck Stops Here”… not… hey, the buck was left here by the previous president, or, Raytheon left me a note to launch 50 drone strikes this month, it’s not my fault” Blame Bush, Raytheon, Boeing, LVT? The blood is on the hands of the CIC. Period. Per capita… JoB .. that’s how ya measure it.

Big Oil pays a huge tax compared to other industries. But let’s be clear.. the American taxpayer is NOT sending a check to big oil…as part or parcel for anything.. Everyones panties in an uproar about 8 billion in write offs? How about the 140 BILLION that went to DOE to promote, Solyndra…if only Solyndra was involved.. and many others… it sure isn’t a playoff record is it… 0 and 33 so far. now that IS taxpayer money. Those were direct subsidies. How about the 40 billion we lost in the GM debacle? Gimme a break… or the 220 Billion that went to states… Gregoire our share and began rewarding government employees for votes. Obama … see the 20 year record low on natural gas prices? New discovery and extraction. Same thing happens with oil. Good thing so much was discovered on private land where he had no control. We know he is no economist, we know he isn;t a businessman. but he was a constitutional law professor right? Bet the Supreme court even proves that was an overstated credential… cause he took beating this week. He must have been asleep during enumerated powers week.

Are you better off than you were four years ago?

Boy, there’s gonna be some real sadness around here the day after Obama beats Romney in a landslide resembling…Saint Ronald over the hapless Mondale. Who can even conceive what evil Obama may then visit upon America and the brave patriots who ferret out his every evil scheme?

Kootch, your posts have seriously…become…more… disjointed….try…to…take…your…meds…please….

dobro, looking at Obama 329 vs Romney 209.

The only problem I have is that with Obama winning in a landslide, he’s going to enact MORE republican ideals to try to appease the right.

“Big Oil pays a huge tax compared to other industries.”

Yes, but per profit, their effective tax rate is LOWER than what YOU probably pay. They pay lower rates than the soldiers who we send to war. This is who YOU are fighting for, a corporation who makes billions in profits and you are worried about their tax rates to the average Americans, especially our soldiers who sacrifice so much.

You are the epitome of the heartless republican. racist, religious bigotry, and pro profits over people, that is what your posts have proved kootch.

okay, kootch. $140 billion to promote alternative energy R&D, huh? sounds like a good investment to me.

now, i understand that since a democrat wrote the check, you expect to be handed over finished products – and fully-functioning factories to make more – and full-on distribution networks – the second the check is cashed, but that’s not how it works.

this is a fledgling industry in america, which in itself is a freaking crime. we have big oil’s head so far up our skirts that we let china and denmark beat us to the alternative energy markets.

sad, sad, sad, and that happened loooong before obama got there. he’s trying to make up for lost time.

the only thing that remains to be seen is whether, when it comes to energy, the american “free market” has the spine or the brains to out-compete other countries when given an infusion of cash. or whether it will be corrupted and abased by politicians. again.

we know that obama is willing to throw money at it to make america competitive. we’ll see if the big dinosaur lets us compete in that arena, or if we’ll have to settle for outsourcing the production of every damned thing we use and consume.

JoB, The elected President of the United States is just that. And I sincerely hope he will be moving back to the property he bought from Convicted felon Tony Rezko on January 20, 2013.

His policies have changed the country. He took over part of the automotive industry. Fascists love trains, and he keeps pushing them, when buses are perfectly fine and are not as expensive in per mile costs. He is trying to mandate private insurance companies to do what the ‘government’ tells them or they will get fined. They are hiring 4,000 agents to track Obamacare fraud. He is spending our country into oblivion. He has been involved in multiple military operations, inherited and on his own.

Even Noam Chomsky agrees with me. http://progressive.org/wx041210.html

Yes, the bourgeois are ruining this country according to Il Bama. Listen to his rants regarding the Big Oil Companies!!! And I paid $4.27 a gallon the other night. Food prices are rising because of this dislike of Oil. My my, I wish Solyndra hadn’t gone bankrupt, but it just goes to show you, the government is not the maker of the free market. You cannot force change unless you are dictatorial. (Read post about power grab the Pres is making under a different topic).

I could be wrong. Maybe he is part of the Critical Race Theory, which states first that racial discrimination can never be eliminated; and second, that the constitutional and legal system is based on racism — loaded with it — and is therefore uncorrectable. Is that what they study are Harvard. Speaking of Endowments, why doesn’t Harvard let their students attend for free? Because the Market allows them to charge exhorbitant tuition costs so that the students can learn how evil Capitalism is. (what is the meaning of “is”) For a President who was touted as bringing us together concerning race, he has supported various race issues that have cause a few WTF’s to fly. Beer Summit. Hmmmm.

Or maybe he is a Liberation Theologist!!!! The Reverend Wright preached to him for 20 years I hear. I also heard that the current Pope was sent to Africa and other places to eradicate the social Marxist ideology. But spreading the graft and wealth is alive and well in Chicagoland

Lets face it folks. It is easier to say what he isn’t. He proves it every day. In his books. Who he hangs out with. Who is on his staff. Who he defers to. His public speeches. His Press Secretary. He is definitely not a centrist nor a right winger. He may come off more centrist when speechifying with his telepromptor but when he gets off topic, the left wing ideology oozes out. Poor Barry, He can’t help it.

He has had a bad week. His healthcare mandate that forces people to buy insurance even if they can’t afford it took a shellacking in the Supreme Court. I guess that Constitution isn’t as outdated as some like him would suggest. They are already rebranding the thing and blaming the Republicans when they didn’t even vote for it, nor allowed to have a say in it. In his movie, From Russia with Love (and less nukes) he was caught in pillow talk with Medvedev giving away the safety of the United States and our normal allies. Think Poland liked hearing that? I do wish he would give as much thought to the victims of crimes and shooting deaths all over the country and not help escalate an already bad situation. It at least stopped the press for a minute talking about Afghanistan and the economy.

It has been a bad week. Even I feel sorry for the Soc…, Fas…, libe…. President.

not even close, but keep on flogging that horse.

Fascists love trains, and he keeps pushing them, when buses are perfectly fine and are not as expensive in per mile costs.

this sentence tells me that you’re just obstinate; perhaps militantly ignorant. you don’t much care for your fellow man; you just want to win a football game.

    fair enough.

for one thing, i’ve explained to you the difference between fascism and authoritarianism. if you’re going to insult the president and the people who support him, at least get your ideologies straight. calling obama a fascist just makes you look foolish.

secondly, the thing with buses versus trains is one of those arguments that seems to be typical of republicans: they know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

intrastate and interstate buses run on fossil fuel, and they use a lot of it. so do airplanes, and jets are especially thirsty. mag-lev trains are electric, but even if we upgrade amtrak, its still more efficient than greyhound. furthermore, buses use highways, which are subject to traffic.

maybe you don’t understand the rationale of high-speed rail, though. we’re not looking to supplant motor vehicles – we’re looking to replace the airline industry for regional travel and some continental travel.

it’s an energy thing. not a social engineering thing.

big picture. get one. it’s all the rage.

the rest of your post is equally stupid and insulting, full of baseless rants… and i’m pretty much done talking to you. everyone reading these forums knows i’ve tried to engage every conservative on here in some kind of intelligent debate. but, like kootchman, you’re just interested in bullying and lording bad news over the rest of us. unemployment, cost of living, afghanistan. you have no interest in discussing things.

and it occurs to me that if bush hadn’t tanked the economy, you guys would have been gone 3 years ago, hiding under a rock somewhere, with no one to insult or blame.

    good fortune. see ya’.

The thing is… what whispers does he murmer out of earshot of the people he is supposed to lead? There is teleprompter talk, there is pander whispers,. and outright fabrications..it’s a multifaceted man that murmers off mic… You can bet if it’s on his teleprompter it’s not what he says in private.. Yea,,, I thought the republican party was dead after “W”. too redblack.probly why I voted for him..On the face of it..he looked better than McCain…. who could have imagined you guys would have dragged out Jimmy Carter II … only worse. It only took two years for the Democratic Party to poison their franchise. I would love to see maglev trains redblack..the per mile cost per ton for rail is the lowest (next to water) .. . now, how are you going to pay for them? Hmm? Can’t sell bonds..yields are too low. Tax free bonds? Why that is “lazy income to the 1%…the ones you want taxed 30% on capital gains… national gasoline tax?… gonna charge enough to be self sustaining including the operating and maintenance costs? We are 16 trillion in deficit spending… show me where we get the money. IF you have corridor rails…you still have surface transit to branch to small destinations.. something air does that rails can’t. 20 years ago… I flew over 100 days a year… now? One trip to Vegas this year… telephony. Rail is already obsolete. TSA is killing air traffic, we don’t need rails to do the job. Want rails? Show me the money…. or is more deficit spending the plan? Who is going to pay… the last 49 per cent of the population that still pays income tax? EPA going to add their 20 to 30 % to the bill? And the trillions in compensation for eminent domain? Let’s slap the hundreds of billions in overpass reconstructions… can’t have those signal arm stops for 180 mph trains.. what about migratory animals and wildlife? … it can be done I am sure… technically. But we are a broke ass nation.

All the ideas .. many admirable. Keeping government spending below 18 per cent of GDP, and adding nothing to the deficit, while reducing it by 10% per year… after all that… where is the money coming from?

the same way we paid for the railroads that we have now: public private partnership, with federal funding and land grants.

only this time we’ll take the rights-of-way from corporations like con-agra instead of native americans. hopefully we won’t need the army to do that.

unfortunately, we no longer have any investors with vision or spine in this country. everyone wants to make a quick buck then rat-hole their money in some tax haven in the caribbean so they can live high on the interest.

but you know, you guys wanted this deficit and debt to hamstring democratic spending. now you – and we – have to live with your austerity.

good plan. way to go. way to put america first and yourself second.

    not.
