How does one go about getting the empty lot at Fauntleroy/40th/Juneau cleaned-up? Isn’t the “owner” responsible for keeping the property/parking strip maintained?

This empty lot is filled with weeds, as is the sidewalk and parking strip area. Its a jungle. Seriously. The weeds are now taller than me… and I’m 5’4″. Sure, I could walk out in to the street – oh wait, no I can’t do that without risking my life (speeding cars).

The newish pedestrian crosswalk is right in front of this lot. When it rains – one can not escape getting swatted by the wet weeds/grass while trying to navigate what is left of the sidewalk. Not to mention the little stickers and weed seeds getting on one’s clothing/on shoes and all that nasty pollen…

That’s funny you posted this bc I live near here and for some reason I just noticed it yesterday. What was there? Is something supposed to be going in? It looks horrible.

Here is a web link for the City of Seattle arborist, request removal online or call them.

I can’t find the link now but I believe that lot, if it’s the one with the old concrete garage-like building, was for sale a couple years back. Meantime, what Irukandji recommends, is the proper method of approaching the city about what you suspect is a vegetation violation – if a private property has something growing over the sidewalk and/or street, DPD inspectors would be the first stop. But if the vegetation is growing from/in the street or sidewalk, that is indeed SDOT’s problem, and you could call 684-ROAD or file a complaint online.

Chupacabra off-leash area? Once the rent-a-goats have cleared the unwanted vegetation and have left the area, of course.

I suggest Roundup or a weedeater. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know your like minded neighbors.
