Don’t worry — you did exactly the right thing according to experts I’ve talked to! If you were there or were one of those who helped free the seal, can you please contact me through the forum’s private messages? It’s for a story I’m writing up for West Seattle Blog. I’d love to talk to you — thanks!

Hi Mary, the PM function is currently disabled, so anyone wishing to contact you will need to do so through the Editor: editor@westseattleblog.com

I wasn’t down there Saturday, but *was* last Friday. As I was sitting on one of the benches by Colman Pool watching the people fishing, it appeared that one guy snagged a fish, then as he was reeling it in, he lost it.

Then, though I’m not certain, it appeared there was at least one seal, or some other critter(s) out there, and I even wondered if it had “stolen” the fish from the guy’s line. I couldn’t make out what that guy and the one next to him were saying to each other, to be able to confirm that I saw what I thought I saw, but the thought did occur, what would be the proper thing to do immediately to help the seal, besides obviously, contacting the proper authorities.

Thanks, Mike — and I will incorporate the what-to-do’s into my article.

Okay, so if anyone wants to contact me, please use mary@shelterrific.com — that’s my other online writing gig. Thanks!
