ToddinWestwoodMemberI would do it, but it would be all from “record LPs” some of you might remember those. It would be Surf, Garage, and Rock-a-billy, with a little Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and a sprinkle of 80’s new wave.
I couldnt handle the pressure of a wedding. Too many hurt feelings when someone comes to me and asks to play some Maria Carie and I dont have it.

changingtimesMemberthank you so much todd but i think im happy with dean thank you though for offering!!! on another note anyone know where to buy cheap champagne…

JayDeeParticipantIf it were me, I’d check with Wine Outlet on 1st Ave SW of Safeco. I am sure they could offer some ideas and good prices (Prosecco from Italy being one option). Actual Champagne from France is pretty dear these days, and options like Prosecco and Spanish sparkling wines make cents.
The guy who owns the place is a good guy and if you can connect directly with Richard, he can work with you. His staff is also highly knowledgeable and they have good advice.

wseamomMemberFor catering I highly recommend Tuxedos and
Tennis Shoes here in West Seattle. The food was absolutely delicious and they did everything they said they’d do and more. Very professional. They seemed more reasonable than a lot of competitors. My only complaint would be their name-weird!

JanSParticipantTNT is wonderful..and they’ll cater to you whether it’s formal or not..hence, the name :) They are excellent at what they do .

cdickensMemberWe had Adam from Adam’s DJ Service do our wedding and he was great. Very low key, so you won’t get the annoying “I want to be the center of attention” effect that some DJ’s have. Just a good job playing music to keep the party going, and he’ll play whatever music you like.

MissKMemberI went to a wedding this past weekend and if you need a photographer this family (mom, dad, daughter trio) is GREAT!! The pictures they shoot aren’t the same ol same you see with all other weddings. The website is http://www.artandsoul.20m.com
Another catering company that I have used a few times and have nothing but great food and no worries was Pyramid Catering. Their website is http://www.pyramidcatering.com
Congrats!

August 10, 2008 at 5:42 am #633252
MissKMemberI saw this in my Costco magazine. What a GREAT money saver and awesome idea for a wedding cake.
It’s on page 68.

RainyDay1235MemberThree years back when we were rather tight on $ and only had a month to plan (no, not for that reason), here is what we did:
FOOD: Whole Foods catered (people talked about the salmon, pasta, and especially the prime rib with horsradhish sauce for months!). $700 fed 85 people very well.
FLOWERS: Went with the Moms-in-Law the morning of to Pike Place Market – very fun and bonding. Walked up to a vendor with the prettiest bouquet (that had baby blue, our color) and asked her to make 5 large and 5 small of those. We picked them up an hour later…$75, done. Sent them home with ladies at the end of the reception.
MUSIC: We mixed our own as we are VERY particular. Sent home personalized CDs with guests. We spent more time on this than anything else! :)
PHOTOGRAPHER: Friend of my husband, who is also a photographer. $200. (In fact, we just did my brother’s wedding photos – and they turned out really nice, and quite artistic if I do say so. Bride said the photos were better than her sister’s really expensive photographer. Heck, we might start a new business!:)
RECEPTION: Used the lodge at husband’s parents condo. Beautiful cabin feel, full kitchen, restroom, chairs, sofas, outdoor patio. FREE. HAd QFC do a helium ballon for the archway – $20.
CAKE: Albertson’s. Butter cream 3-tiered wedding cake + a chocolate fudge 1-tier groom’s cake = $70. Their cakes are to die for. I swear they went so above and beyond – must have been bored with making pre-fab kids birthday cakes, they went to town on these!
GIFTS: TO Anyone who ASKED (as we did not register because it just feels weird to me) – we asked for a gift certificate to THEIR favorite restaurant. It took us over two years to use them all – and we had some delicious meals at great new places we might never have tried otherwise! :)

changingtimesMemberhey rainyday!! that is awsome i never knew wholefood catered and its my fav place! we were already going to do the market for flowers..great minds think alike!…..the other ideas are great too!!! with the way the economy is going our budget is getting smaller and smaller :)
August 11, 2008 at 7:26 pm #633256
MissKMemberWell the way the economy is going with Whole Foods, deals might be scarce there too. Organic to Go is a great alternative too. We use them at my work and I have been nothing but pleased with the quality of food. Plus they deliver and set it up if you want them too. :-)

DunnoParticipantDean will do a great job, I know of him and his website is really good. The problem with the Adams service is that he sub-contracts.
The key in finding a DJ is that the person you talk to and meet is the same person playing for your event. In other word, buyer beware.
