Apparently West Seattle residents think they are both law/parking enforcement and psychics. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but none of you have any clue to the reality of the situation. Dept of Transportation will tell you that every vehicle has 72 hr.s to park. All along Harbor and all the way around through Alki to Beach Drive. Unless otherwise noted. There is NO sign anyplace that says NO RV’s NO HUGE Tow Trucks, NO HUGE Bed Trucks, etc. The law say that after 72 hr.s ANY vehicle has to move off the block.

You would be surprised to know that most smart people have hidden security cameras. The word hidden means you are not going to see it. So before you go and ” do something ” to someone’s vehicle, picture your face explaining that to your kids. Why did mom get charged with vandalism? But really, it’s not the cops you should worry about. From what I’ve witnessed, some of these people are being pushed to the point where they could snap.
I sure wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of a person who’s being harassed. Do yourself a favor and don’t approach whatever RV truck etc you are annoyed with because it messes up your view for a few days. You could also be doing us all a favor. A guy I talked to about his Rv said ” every time someone harasses us, we go out at night and break about 10 cars windows”, so please ya all stop provoking people.

This is what happens when you mess with someone’s vehicle. Say you break their window. All that’s going to do is force them to stay around longer to get it fixed. In fact, you may be looking at say a RV for instance, and think that 1. They must be homeless. 2. They don’t live on Alki 3. Don’t pay taxes 4. Don’t care about this community 5. Are here to ” party ” at the beach etc. OR Maybe it appears they are attempting to live here for free.

Also, its the kids who don’t live here who are out at 4 a.m on those scooters and rent-a-bike’s that are likely doing a lot of the burglarizing. I’ve seen some shady looking people out there in the middle of the night.

I agree that there are some RV’s that its obvious that they are likely doing drugs and homeless. We let’s talk about that. The Salvation Army has a street outreach program ONLY for people living in the vehicles. They mention them every time they talk about the RV problem over by the West Seattle Health Club over on Andover. I myself have paid to go there since 2012. I rarely go now, not because of the RV’s but because of my own health issues. PLus they were closed a lot during the pandemic. So that’s over $2000 I’ve paid to NOT go there once in 3 years. But I don’t like it either, I am afraid for my car to get broken into while I’m there, and I used to like to go swimming at night.

However seeing what’s going on there, -obviously none of them are running at all, and seeing one or 2 here and there that are moving around so they must run a little bit-that is totally different.

Did you know that trying to find a mobile mechanic in Seattle is nearly impossible? So until you know the exact reason why that vehicle is around, then its pointless to assume. Why not try leaving a nice note? Not a long rant about why they shouldn’t park there.

Back to that community outreach program. I can tell you from first hand experience, very recent that they are full of it. They left their card on my business vehicle which we are painting. Which is like a beautiful little apt inside. Although I only planned on sleeping in it while taking the business on the road., so I don’t have to stay in hotels etc. and have my own bathroom, but they left their card on my door and said ” we can help with housing ” WRONG!

I went through the steps to see if they were for real. Next thing they say is HUD housing is out of money. But they can pay first last deposit. Help people overcome evictions etc. Well my building on Alki is horrible lately. They rented to these people that we all know are dealing and worse they are loud and fighting slamming doors stealing mail, ( I have proof ) Its just been a living hell.

So I thought, well maybe I’ll let them help me move, and it’s always one thing or another why they cant help. So next time you see a news story on KOMO etc saying ” the city is doing outreach work ” know that they are lying to the public. I even asked them, tell me one person you’ve gotten an apt for” I actually told he to stop spreading false hope.

She had originally said I was the only one who called them back. Well they didn’t even go talk to the RV’s by the gym. She said she didn’t know where that was. How not? It’s by far the worst spot in the area, right? I have all my texts saved. She seemed cool but they could do other stuff, like help pay storage rent which is only $350 a month right there on Harbor Blvd is a RV Boat and big truck storage place.

If you have read this much , then read this which is the point of why I took the time to write this: If you could care less about how people in Rv’s for example feel, then why do you expect them to care how you feel about your view? Do you realize that when you approach someone and bully them, you could not only put yourself in a dangerous situation, but put that person in such a state that they could hurt themselves? Really? Your view is more important that pushing someone to the point of them saying screw it and instead of using their gun on you, they kill themself? Pushing someone into self harm is despicable. Shame on you. If you feel this strong about it then write to your city council or the mayor etc. I have to think that there is something else going on with you for you to say to yourself ” My life would be perfect if that big RV just wouldn’t park there ”

    Por favor!

You totally lost me when you said “every time someone harasses us, we go out at night and break about 10 cars windows.” THAT makes my blood boil. I have no sympathy for someone with that attitude.

I love how there is only one response so far because the reason im assuming is the fact that most people who take part in this blogs forum are haters (especially of “homeless”) and all they have is arguments; problems but no solutions. Like to think im sick of it but here i am lol.anyways, thankyou for basicly pointing out it is difficult to expect positive reactions/outcomesfrom those who you disrespect/harass/attack.

    Dear Too much whine.
You need to RE-READ what I wrote. This is what I was told. You made it sound like I said I / we do that. I literally cant imagine doing something like that. Today I opened WS blog and saw the story on the Kinney vandalism. Now do you believe me? They stole my new $220 battery held me at gunpoint, took my $300 inverter, another $200 of electronics nailed under the seat like my inverter. I am both a RV owner AND a victim of these jerks. Get it? Im getting it from both sides. But parking on Alki is NOT illegal. I got robbed because I felt I had to move it over by Saltys. The people parked down by the gym I pay $60 a month to go to – in the Dolphin class C are the ones that told me ” every time we get messed with we go out and break stuff. So stop reading whenever you want burying your head in the sand is helping no one. And so I suppose you don’t care that they’re lying in the news on, Etc saying that community outreach programs are going and offering housing blah blah blah? Is Despicable the people are so much more concerned about their view then they are about human life and people who are stuck living in their vehicle. Shame on you.

Gracie, you and the city of Seattle are constantly trying to make excuses why people are homeless, how it could happen to any anyone, bad things happen to good people, etc. And I agree with that. To a point. Here is my view and that of others. Because there are two sides if not more to every story.
What I do not agree with is the experience I have had with homeless people by my place of employment. FILTH and I do mean FILTH everywhere. And the piles and piles of bicycle parts, garbage, numerous abandoned vehicles, old tents left behind, I could go on and on. This population also stole water from our building. Not only stole it but left it running after they were done. Why in God’s name would someone do that? Because of that, we had to put a lock on it so now they cannot get any water. They have butchered our fences of our yard, stolen things from work trucks, whatever they can get their hands on. I would like to think they are buying food, but my gut tells me that is not the case.
Humans are not supposed to be homeless. There is help out there, but to stay in so called homeless housing provided by Seattle, you also have to follow the rules. No drinking, no drugs, RULES.
In my view the City of Seattle has contributed to this issue 10-fold, by doing NOTHING and we are just supposed to deal with a community who need mental help, substance abuse rehab and ignore the general rules of living in a somewhat structured society. I should not have to live in fear of a person who loses their sh*t when I simply honk and ask if they can move their car that is parked in the middle of the road.
I do not have the answers, but thanks for clarifying that if we say something or do something that is not acceptable to some of these people, we can expect pay back. Somehow, I have always knew that. I for one, cannot imagine myself ever being homeless, I have family and I have friends who would do anything for me to help out, and vice versa. Maybe not being able to understand prevents us from looking past the RV, the garbage etc.

My dearest SeattleCandyCo, Shame on me? Shame on you! I read your entire novella on homelessness and it was very clear that you stated “a guy I talked to said. . . ” My point was that I have sympathy and compassion for the plight of the homeless but when an individual has a response of random vandalism based on a slight from a local resident (real or perceived) I lose my sympathy. I wasn’t implying anything about YOU. I’m still not sure what your point is but I do know you pay $60 a month for your gym membership but you haven’t been in 3 years, you own an RV, you were robbed. You go on about 72 hour parking rules and hidden security cameras. What point are you trying to make? Is this story about you or about RVs or parking or homeless people or hidden cameras or the gym? If you’re just venting your frustrations that’s fine but I’m not your enemy.

    Dear too much whine
I apologize, but your sentence the way you wrote it made it sound like I said I was going to go out and do that I said they told me then you said
” we ” I am disabled I couldn’t even and just no- not my style… did you see the story about the wonderful retirement home the Kenny getting vandalized? Probably them. And yeah I’m ranting about a lot of stuff but I was actually told by the editor of the West Seattle Blog and I will reply to each person on here because somebody copy pasted another article in West Seattle Blog stating that there were rules against parking, but that’s not what the editor for West Seattle Blog told me
I also talked to the cops about this numerous times and like I said I’ve lived on Bonair for almost 9 -10 years, I lived in a big house right above Thriftway for five years before that and I’ve lived in Seattle since 1986..this thread seems to be mainly steered towards the homeless and yes it’s this huge issue but I’m trying to say I guess and I’m not doing it very well I’m usually a better writer I apologize but the point is is that you cannot look at every single RV and assume that person is homeless- this lady came up and totally accosted me the other night she didn’t care if I parked in front of anyone else’s house but as long as I wasn’t parked in front of HER house- and I’m talking about across the street on the Beach side she doesn’t own the beach this is not Malibu California she doesn’t even own the house she actually rents one of three units -because I walked over there to talk to her. I have it all on video by the way -she would not let me get a word in edgewise if you can believe that LOL! I had just had a nice conversation with this other couple and I told them about how I took the RV to Les Schwab in Georgetown and it came back with worse braaks then when I took it there, I can’t seem to get the brakes fixed or else trust me I wouldn be up at Diablo Dam camping right now. I would not be here- why would I need an RV to hang out on Alki when I have an apartment on Alki? I very calmly explaind to this one couple what the situation was, then she comes up behind me and starts telling me to move it and I’m like mam there is no parking up by my house, it was a sunny busy day on the beach and she wouldn’t even let me actually say more than two or three words I them go and unplugged my camera by my window and since I was switching over from the generator to the chassis batteries it only caught the last part of it but she would not let me talk and she didn’t care if it was parked in front of anyone else’s house as long as it wasn’t in front of hers the funny thing is right up the street is a huge tow truck the kind of tow truck that can tow a RV in fact- like a really really big tow truck. I never noticed it before but someone who lives on Alki must drive it because it’s always parked right there I’ve never ever seen a tow sticker on it or whatever from the cops, no one bothers him… then there’s this other big flatbed truck that’s always parked right there and nobody complains about those trucks but they see an RV and they automatically think it’s homeless people I’m just saying why don’t people ask questions before they make assumptions I would be happy to show them the inside of it which looks like a beautiful apartment and explain to them how I got it to hopefully turn it into a food truck because I’ve never understood the design or size of food trucks being like a box truck and then to having no place to stretch out or lay down or take a nap or not having your own bathroom I thought it would be cool to have my own bathroom and have a place to take a nap in case I decide to take my business on the road I wouldn’t have to get a hotel room I thought it was a great idea and I still think it’s a great idea I didn’t plan on being here like I said on another site the guy who sold it to me pretty much screwed me over a week after I got it the brakes stopped working- what would you like me to do set it on fire so that no one has to look at it? Then it gets broken into and I just commented about the gym because it’s funny that people look at me and look at my RV and think these damn filthy RV people and we can’t go to our gym blah blah – I’ve been at that gym since 2012 it’s the last few years that I’ve been paying and haven’t been able to go because of the pandemic. In a nutshell it’s like don’t judge a book by its cover people just need to calm the F down and stop being so vicious. I have done everything to try to make my RV look less like a homeless RV but every time somebody messes with it or it gets broken into that’s not helping me finish painting it and put my company logo on it. I’m not a violent person and I’m not a vindictive person but if that lady had to come up to the wrong person I mean that was very dangerous what she did she has no idea the danger she put herself in she’s lucky that I’m a disabled hippie just trying to do my thing. Anyone else might have punched her etc. But no, I called the cops. And the cop was really nice to me I said I need you to come and tell this lady that she doesn’t have the right to come up to me and tell me where to park. This privilege thinking isn’t cool some of these people do need to get knocked down a couple of notches and I’m not saying it’s going to be me but the next person that she harasses she might not get them calling the cops you might get them coming back and doing something worse than recording or and calling the cops. I’ve got errands to do I got to log off for now but I really hope that this makes people think a little bit about the situation I still want to reply to a couple of the other people on this thread.

To Cheese WS 777 Thank you. The user named Too much whine who Ive been going back and forth with on here called my post a ” novella ” and said his blood was boiling over reading about vandalism. He said nothing about how I had proof that these so called outreach workers arent doing what the news says their doing. Can we all agree that the gym on Andover is the worst area in West Seattle? Well they told me they haven’t been there. They didnt know where I was talking about. I even found the lady who wrote the atticle and messaged her on Facebook. No reply. Its a division of The Salvation Army. They specifically
( supposedly ) help people living in their vehicles. When I talked to them, I explained that I had an apt but I was open to getting help if they could help with me getting the brakes fixed. The outreach worker said she would ask her boss. Because they have paid for repairs if the RV was pretty much running. Never heard back from them. Theres a lot more to my story, I just felt like if I can get people to understand that every situation is different, maybe they wouldn’t react with such anger.
I was having a good day and got a lot done, then that might that lady came up behind me and ruined my mood for the rest of the weekend I was crying and got nothing done w the RV. I had planned on moving it the next morning but I was so upset, it threw off my whole next day. So it ended up being there 2 days longer than if she had just left me alone. I just cant believe with everything going on in Ukraine, people would get so angry about their view. I wish she would talk to the mobile mechanic who perverted out on me and ripped me off or go with me to Les Schwab and yell at them for saying theres nothing wrong with my brakes. Maybe I need to be more like her!

    Hi Chuck
I had already read this entire thread. The situaton as I understand it now, is that due to the pandemic / rise in homeless population, they are not pushing that law. In fact, DOT and the cops told me that if I say its my home and I have no place to go, they cant even ticket or tow me. I bought the RV from someone who said he drove it to Florida and back and would do that trip again now ” paid him $10,000 cash. $1200 to seal roof. Wanted to leave to go see my dad who I haven’t seen since 1 year before pandemic. Got it ready, one week into packing it up getting ready to leave the brakes went out. I’ve been trying to get them fixed ever since. #sniffflesniffle

    I agree with you 100%
I would not have bought my RV if I planned on just parking it in front of my apt.
I planned on leaving and doing a bit of family visiting van life type stuff as I am a photographer writer Etc my website has millions of views my youtube channel Xanaland had thousands of subscribers, I’ve beon live streaming since 2012 because my friend owns a live stream company, so I was doing it before Facebook etc. Point is my followers LOVE it when I film stuff like around Seattle. I mostly do live music but my fan base is mostly Italy UK Greece pretty much all over the world but the grunge fanatics love it when I film random stuff just driving around. So I knew I could do okay selling merch. Also own another business I can operate on the road and online and planned on being back here by June to do that.
Brakes went out on me after driving it about a week. 3 mechanics later including Les Schwab, still haven’t fixed them well enough to leave town.
I have met some people living in their RVs because I usually park down by the 7-11. Yes, I’ve now been cast down with the homeless guys. The ugliest one has the nicest people. Its the guys in a smaller class C Dolphin that I think broke into mine took my new $220 battery inverter flashlights tools etc.
So now Im like F*ck those homeless losers. Then I drive it to charge new battery
( the one that replaced the other new one ) and this little old lady accosted me and started yelling at me.
If she had looked inside which she could have easily I had the door wide open she would have seen its spotless and beautiful. The thing that I don’t understand is if people see an RV that they can tell obviously is running like it drives why would they think that that person would want to stay there gas cost a lot of money in a RV obviously the person is probably just there for a couple of days or maybe there’s something going on with the RV like mechanically speak so again people should not assume with the situation is before they react as far as all the other stuff you were talking about not all of those homeless places require you to be clean and sober. The waiting lists are YEARS long. Trust me I know a girl who was pregnant has a 5 year old, never arrested doesnt drink or do drugs and they sent her to Mary’s Place after she lived in her car for 2 months. They said she could get housing in 2 years. I winder how long its going to take the refugees from Ukraine to get housing? Just saying. Doesn’t matter if it’s Hurricane Katrina or Afghanistan or whatever the current crisis is in another country people come here and they get housing handed to them on a silver platter but people who are already here and homeless who are Americans have to wait 4 years to get Social Security disability and housing the system is broken. A RV alone is not the symbol of someone who has given up or is lazy or on drugs. I’ve done so many unspeakable kindnesses for the community of West Seattle dragging people’s kids up and down the beach in my 10 ft tall floating Flamingo during the pandemic just to name one thing giving out free cotton candy from my business on Labor Day. I never thought the people in my own neighborhood would treat me like this it’s actually made me want to leave for good. Then I remember my favorite saying that success is your best revenge …but I’m not going to forget this winter and the way I was treated. Sorry that your place of work or business has been a victim of such a Tri-Cities it is ridiculous that people can’t just pick up after themselves even if it’s in an alley I’ve always hated that I abhor laziness and trash and clutter and stuff like that that’s why I wanted a food truck for my business that’s why I did not want to have a brick-and-mortar set up for my business no way it’s just too expensive and with stuff like that happening everywhere there’s just no way I’m going to worry about getting broken into vandalize and stuff like that it’s bad enough with a food truck. Have a good summer thanks for your input and not being a chode!

All I read was that one of those RV A*holes goes out and destroys other peoples property when they try to bring up their issues to this A*hole.

And since I don’t know which one it is, it might be any one of them.
