REWARD for info leading to the thief and or recovery of our rod iron fence sections that were stolen from us.

They were red oxide colored and were 3 8-10′ sections and a couple shorter sections. They were 4′ high when upright position.

There were leaning up against our fence with other materials in the alley. And no they did not look like they were free.

Please any info would be greatly appreciated. It was to keep our little children in the yard. The guy came today to install it and it was all gone.

OR if you know of some free or cheap sections I’d be much obliged.

    Peace

you’ve reported this to the police…right? whoever took it must have needed a vehicle to move it, I would assume. Brazen !!!!

That’s why I notify the community and my neighbors. The police only file a report. Don’t feel like involving the police on this one…..thanks.

involving the police lets them keep track of where crime is being committed. It’s ALWAYS a good idea to report a crime, no matter how small.

Robert thinks you should notify the police and spell Arbor correctly. Both should help you catch the bad guys. You might also want to provide your contact info (phone, email) to further motivate people who might be want to help and collect the reward.

Well, if we’re picking out spelling errors, it’s “wrought” iron, not “rod” iron.

Anyway, I agree that you should report the theft. Good luck!

yes please do report it. If there’s an increase in crime in my neighborhood (I’m in AH, too) I’d like the police to know about it on the off chance they do decide to increase patrols. I -have- seen police cruise thru around Hillcrest Presbyterian (sometimes they park there to take breaks and write reports) and I’ve seen them respond to the last late-night fireworks complaints so we’re not completely forgotten over here.

Its up to we the people to watch our own back and protect our own property. We have to outsmart the thieves here people.

Motion lights are great. I feel much better after our front door was kicked in and they stole our huge HD tv a couple years ago. Brinks made it so they only had time to grab that. Cord ripped out of the TV and still stuck under the damaged door when we returned home to meet the police already there (thanks Brinks).

You have to lock stuff up. Bolt it down or hide it.

Or just make it to where a thief will just want to try something else. I installed a dummy alarm light I bought on eBay. Comes on w/ key off. I’d walk on wouldn’t you ?

I hate thieves. Buy a gun too- you never know if you have to protect your family. Although I am for PEACE. The neighbors door was kicked in just the other day in the middle of the day! They cleaned them out a bit too.

Things are getting worse folks. Were getting a wrought iron fence installed for thieves and to keep our little kids out of the street.

Not to be paranoid. Just be smart is all.

Yes, buy a gun. That’s how we keep our neighborhoods safe… :-|

kids and guns are a bad combination.. too many are killed with the guns their family bought to protect them…

and it can happen to the nicest families… my cousin didn’t expect the gun she kept for her family’s safety to be used on her and her family.

get a dog. treat it as a member of your family and it will let intruders know that you home is not an easy target.

Wow! I have been a resident of AH for over 25 years and we haven’t had anything stolen, thank goodness! I too agree that a police report should be done and I also agree that kids and guns are a really bad combination. People who leave items outside building materials, kids bikes, and unlocked door or windows are just asking for trouble. The days when you could leave anything outside without it being stolen are long gone.

throw a frying pan at an intruder in your house while your children are asleep. Gee what if they have a gun- what you going to do then ??

People are so ignorant about guns. That’s why they make trigger locks, easy access safes etc….

Don’t remember saying anything about storing the gun without safety first.

not everyone has time for a dog- like with 4 kids.

It’s more humane to not have a dog if you can’t offer them what they need.

I knew the gun comment would freak people out.

hotrod, what area of Arbor Heights are you in? I also live here, and would like to be on the lookout for potential a-holes. sorry to hear about your fence.

gun safes and trigger locks aren’t a guarantee of safety when you have guns in the house as they are often used by people who have access to the locks. That’s what happened to my cousin.

I can understand why she gave the combinations to her son… it never occurred to her that he would share them with his best friend who turned out to be suicidal.

I agree that you shouldn’t get a dog if you don’t have time to take care of it.. but there are some pretty realistic motion detectors with snarling dog sounds.

So what will you do if you are out with your family having an ice cream cone one night at Baskin & Robins, you forgot your gun, and someone wants to harm your family? What will you do then? Or what if you do have your gun or other weapons on your and cannot reach them in time? As concerned as you are about protecting your family, perhaps you should consider martial arts classes for the family. I have a feeling that guns will not solve your problems.

I’m not sure if this is relevant, but it seems possible. On Saturday afternoon between 1:30 and 2:00; two guys came to our door. We had some scrap metal leaning against our garage door and they asked if they could haul it off for us. My other half was home and talked with them. He wasn’t willing to pay for that (we have a truck) but if they wanted to take it, they were welcome; and they did. Nice enough guys, obviously scouting around for metal and had other stuff in the back of their small flatbed truck, including an old gas grill.

They could’ve just taken the stuff but knocked on a downstairs door and then our front door so they were persistant in checking if it was o.k. first. My partner doesn’t remember a whole lot more. We were just happy to have the stuff gone.

WSB knows how to reach me if we need to offer the police the same description. Sorry for your loss hotrod325.

unless someone saw the items removed it’s long gone now. I’m sure they have been scrapped for $.

Unless they are really dumb and it’s in their yard. That would be great to find.

I hear you Robert. Martial arts is good. Used to practice in China Town. To each their own on the guns and we’ll leave it at that. I’m ex military and I know how to store this stuff safely.

I even make my own ice cream now- ben and jerry used to be my favorite.

Someone asked to haul metal I remember now about a year ago. Could be the same people. but the stuff is gone now. I was thinking a late night neighborhood watch program would be sweet. We all sign up and everyone gets a 4 hour shift once a month. That would keep things safe.

I live on 41st SW and 106th JenV

So lessons learned here folks. Thanks so much and take care.

I always find it ironic that when you have crap lying around outside your house that you don’t want (in my case, new windows our contractor ordered that were not what we wanted, and then the contractor disappeared but left us the windows as a keepsake), no one seems to want to steal that stuff… thieves only take the stuff you would care went missing.
