Sorry this isn’t West Seattle, but Stewart Lumber over in Rainier Valley has given me a quote for cedar decking that’s quite a bit less than the Alki Lumber quote I received. Just wondering if anyone has experience with Stewart Lumber and could comment on the quality of their cedar decking? Thanks!

Can’t comment on the cedar decking specifically, unfortunately, but I used Stewart for kitchen/stairwell remodel last summer. Good guys, good price, good reputation amongst good subcontractors I’ve worked with. I am just about to order furring, 2×4’s, qtr round, acx from them for laundry room/basement. I have confidence in Stewart Lumber, though I do wonder if I’m not a little whacked from too many remodels so close together. Ack! ;)

We use both Stewart Lumber and Alki as suppliers for our projects. If the quotes are for the same type of cedar then go with Stewart.

I recently bought cedar siding for my garage and I shopped around. Dunn, Alki and more, but not Stewart. I ended up buying from Issaquah Cedar And Lumber http://www.cedarexperts.com/ . They pretty much only do one thing, cedar. Their price was as good or better than everyone else and they really really know cedar. I drove out and picked up what I needed but they did offer to deliver to WS for $60.

I bought a whole bunch of cedar fencing from Compton on 1st ave. Great product – clear and straight. Price was close to Dunn but the quality was better.
