I have had Verizon since I first got a cell many moons ago.

I am wanting to change to Consumer Cellular (which uses Sprint lines) as it has less expensive plans than I have with Verizon. I am worried about coverage and drops.

    Thoughts anyone.

    I live in Gatewood. Thanks

My friend is a Sprint manager, and through her I get a hefty discount on my iPhone plan. Previously, I’ve had AT&T for a few years, and Verizon before that. I’ve never had a problem with reception, dropped calls, or very slow data networks UNTIL I moved to Sprint. My friend explains that Sprint is making major upgrades to their network, and unfortunately it’s going to get worse before it gets better. If it wasn’t for the significant discount, I would not choose to go with Sprint.

I have Sprint now. No real problems to speak of as far as call quality and drops. Not many drops and call quality is moderate (Comprable to other’s). The customer service with Sprint has been good. No problems there. As far as coverage overall, I would asay Verizon is heads and shoulders above Sprint. I made the switch from Verizon to Sprint with the last iPhone release. Nationally speaking, Verizon can’t be beat. Coverage in all but the most remote locations. With Sprint, as long as I’m in populated areas, it’s jusst fine. If I work too far out of the city centers, it gets pretty dicey. No problems yet, but I feel maybe I’ve just been lucky.

You pay for the coverage, though, as Verizon was noticeably more expensive. Unlimited data with Sprint is a very nice touch.

I switched from TMobile to Sprint last year because they had a great deal for my company.

Compared to TMobile, the coverage is a bit better and the customer service is definitely an improvement. I mention that so you know what my basis for comparison is.

There are a couple of dead spots in W.Seattle, like 47th Way SW & Fauntleroy and Admiral & 37th SW (the top of the Admiral Hill) but at least they’re consistent.

Unfortunately it’s also crummy in my back yard, whereas my wife’s Verizon signal is excellent. But since I’m a cheapskate and don’t like talking on the phone much anyway, I can live with that.
