Suffered about an hour of outage over the course of an hour and a half. Server managers tell us there may be a few short flutters as they continue repairs but otherwise it’s fixed. It was definitely NOT scheduled or we would have warned everybody. The explanation, for anyone technical who cares (I personally have no idea what this means but will be Googling to get educated): “the main hardware node that powers your server suffered a kernel panic.”
There’s something memorable about that … so, next time we freak out over something here at WSB HQ, I believe I will explain it as “sorry, I’m suffering a kernel panic.”
But seriously, sorry again.
