Snakes anyone?

Just got to wondering, does anyone see garter snakes anymore in West Seattle? I saw a couple about 10 years ago (one dead, one alive). I know cats and raccoons prey on them.

I found one in my back yard a couple years ago. My chickens were free-ranging at the time, and I heard them making a very agitated sound, went out and discovered that they had chased a garter snake under our lawn mower! I was really surprised, because I hadn’t seen one for years prior to that…and sadly, I haven’t seen one since.

I have seen them on the hiking trails @ Mee Kwa Mooks park.

I was hosting a garter snake in one of our flower beds last summer (for a few days), but it had been years since I’d seen any. There were a lot of them when I was a child growing up (30’s and 40’s) and once got my rear tanned for collecting a few and bringing them into the house…
