    Too true. Check out the signs at the Wolfgang Puck counter at the Symphony sometime. Every single one of them has a spelling or punctuation error on it. I could almost believe someone had put them there on purpose to amuse and/or annoy pedantic symphony-goers…

    I don’t rant about this sort of thing often, and it’s not the end of the world, but even on forum postings, I notice it. It’s distracting and pulls me away from the meaning of what I’m reading.

    I’ve caught numerous errors on COLLEGE websites. Not a good sign at all. I agree with JoB that it is the culture of ignorance that is most frightening. I sometimes wonder if democracy is such a good idea after all, especially when I hear the truly ignorant declare that they don’t want to elect anyone smarter than they are.
