School is almost back, and the outgrown piles aren’t going to sort themselves. On Sunday, August 30th from 2–5 PM, Hoste,West Seattle’s favorite secondhand shop on California Ave, is hosting Purge the Piles, a back-to-school event that takes the outgrown-clothes chaos off parents’ hands entirely.

Here’s how it works: parents bring one bag or bin per kid of clean, ready-to-wear outgrown clothes and accessories. On-site Rosie Pros do the rest: sorting the pile, getting items listed, and keeping the littles entertained while parents grab a drink, shop Hoste, and mingle. Processing runs about 10–15 minutes per bundle, so there’s time to actually enjoy the afternoon.

“Every parent I know has three bins of barely-worn kids’ clothes and no time to deal with them. We wanted to make giving them a second childhood as easy as dropping off a bag.” said Juley Thuy Le, co-founder of Mini Swap.

The event doubles as first access to Mini Swap, a new West Seattle–based, style-matched kids’ clothing exchange launching this fall. The first 50 families to participate receive a listing kit and credits to shop bundles when the platform goes live.

What to bring: One bag or bin per kid of outgrown clothes and accessories. No shoes, socks, or undergarments. Everything clean and ready to wear (if you’d hand it to a friend without apologizing for it, it belongs in the bag).
