christopherboffoliParticipantKrispy Kreme are wonderful! They’re especially good when they’re hot and the glaze is still warm.
Krispy Kreme. Dunkin’ Donuts. Top Pot. Pike Place mini-doughnut stand.
Donut Plant. VooDoo Doughnut. Mulberry St. NYC zeppole….
I can’t say there’s really a doughnut I’ve ever encountered that I wouldn’t glady eat again. When it comes to doughnuts I’m all for diversity.

celeste17ParticipantThe problem with the blind taste test is getting the doughnuts to the taste test. If I was to get them I would have to taste test several.

Bikefor1MemberI love the crullers that Dunkin Donuts makes. Whenever I’m back East I try to get one. And not all DDs sell the same kind. Boston’s are long, and not made with choux pastry. The Long Island ones were right. There is a donut shop on 152nd in Burien (a few blocks west of 1st Ave) that makes them the right way. I go there when I need a fix.

SueParticipantAs a New Yorker, I’ve come to accept that no bagel I eat here will measure up to what I expect in a bagel. There are certainly passable, acceptable bagels, but nothing that really screams “great bagel” to me. So I eat them and have learned to live with it.
I would, however, kill for a good bialy.

celeste17ParticipantThe doughnut shop in Burien is Lucky Doughnuts.

swimcatMemberOh my- donuts are my favorite food after icecream. I love Dunkin Donuts- why can’t there be one within 100 miles of this city??? The BEST donut I ever ate was from a little donut shop on Eastlake. I believe it is where Sitka and SPruce is now. ANyways, their donuts were perfect- I’m sad they closed up shop.
I like QFC’s maple and chocolate bars. I tried the Original Bakery just yesterday- the creme filled chocolate one was good, but I didn’t try the maple bar because there wasn’t enough frosting on it to my liking. I love frosting! I think that is why I like QFC’s donuts.
Oh, I do believe there is a big difference in donut preferences too- cake vs the lighter, airier kind. It’s like thin-crust vs. Chicago deep dish pizza.
I’m getting hungry… now that I’m thinking about donuts, a nice beignet would be wonderful. Some of my earliest memories involve enjoying warm beignets in New Orleans. Yum!

JoBParticipanti may be compelled to get dressed and go in search of pastry:(
celeste17 is right.. who could we trust to actually deliver the donuts to a blind taste test?
