smokeycretin9ParticipantAgain, for those who didnt see it on the main page. SDOT is repaving Admiral Way.
WHY!!!!!!!!???????
Both Delridge and Roxbury are falling apart and barely drivable as it California St.
I guess because we live South of Alaska St, we dont deserve nice things.
Efff you SDOT!

Genesee HillParticipantThey repaved parts of California south of Alaska. At least they are repaving. I disagree on Roxbury, it is not so bad. Barely drivable? LOL

kootchmanMemberThat stretch from Terrible Beauty to Rite Aid…. is worthy of third world status… it’s bad. Move near a city council member? I gotta tell ya…. SDOT did some fine, fine work on my corner… I was impressed. Replaced the sidewalks and handicap ramps, actually redid the neighbors front steps to blend in with flow of foor traffic. My first letter for an “atta boy” to SDOT. Reinforced my retaining wall too. I even signed off on the encroachment.

WSBKeymasterTerrible Beauty to Rite Aid has all been repaved since last September. That’s Edmunds to Hudson to Dawson.
As for city councilmembers, Tom Rasmussen is the only one who lives in West Seattle. No recent paving projects anywhere near his neighborhood.

smokeycretin9ParticipantDrive W.b. on Roxbury thru White Center. Just before the intersection of 16th, the concrete is broken and is bad. The stretch just past the muffler shop going wb is terrible too. There is many places where the concrete is going to pot.

HMC RichParticipantMy mother in law is visiting from Britain. She is appalled at all of the potholes and uneven sidewalks. She dislikes having to keep her eyes on the sidewalk because she is a senior and is afraid to trip.
My wife fell from the bad sidewalks which triggered her immune system to go into overdrive and she has been dealing with rheumatoid arthritis ever since. That is not to say it would not have manifested itself at some point, but that did not help.
Whenever DOT paves an area, I am grateful. I just wish they would quit planting trees in the borders between the road and the sidewalk.

JanSParticipantwell, now…money, money, money…that’s what it will take. But when you complain about something, folks, make sure you’re telling the truth..thank you, TR, for the link…

anonymeParticipantI can’t imagine how trees on planting strips cause difficulty for anyone except those who illegally park on them, although problems may occasionally arise when inappropriate trees are planted. A few, such as Liquidamber, have root systems that heave the sidewalks. Approved street trees should be fine.
Trees planted in the planting (not “parking”) strips provide a number of benefits to neighborhoods. Numerous studies have shown that street trees calm traffic, reduce noise and pollution, and raise property values. Nothing negative there.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune disease which would not be triggered by a fall.

Genesee HillParticipantI guess kootchman has been in a third world country since September. Whining via the internet on how lousy things are on California Avenue between Terrible Beauty and Rite-Aid.
