JiggersMemberKaraoke isn’t what it used to be. In W.S., times have changed since the new luck toilet closed. I got old I guess..lol. That place was a dive but was damn fun and stiff arse drinks. Now days you get these hip bars which when you walk in you’ll be lucky to even get waited on or seen, much less a drink with any alcohol in it and they burn a hole thru your wallet price wise. You don’t here classics being sung anymore like Mack the knife or After the lovin’ etc.. because the crowd is real young and uneducated in music terms. All they know is mostly rap and whatevers popular from American Idol. I go out to Talarico’s and the only guy who sings classics is bigAL who is the worst singer around, but comes out at his older age and frankly he doesn’t give a sh*t what the kids think. I grew up listening to music from the 70’s and 80’s era and I don’t give a sh*t what they think when ts my turn to sing. A song that used to be a good song that has ran its course with me because of karaoke bars is Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” which most people can’t even hit when they sing it. Don’t sing it. It’s only a feel good song that when sung to just get girls liquored up which I don’t mind actually…lol That song has become an earsore with all the others that has been overplayed or sung. I sing different songs that I want to do and not to be popular just because they know a song. The Yen hore is out of my way. but it is what it is today. Talarico’s Sunday,Monday,Tuesday,Thursday are karaoke nights. the only place other than Talarico’s is at the Chelan on Saturday and Redline on Wednesday nights.

marywsParticipantthanks for the feedback. I checked out the Yen Wor last night, a very large, boisterous, enthusiastic and ultimately very kind crowd. I think I will check out the Chelan maybe next week and also Talarico’s Thursday nite.

digidollMemberThe Triangle (Roxbury & Delridge) has karaoke on both Friday and Saturday nights, starting around 9pm. Several regular participants, plus the inevitable people who got suck(er)ed in via consumption of ample “singing fluid.” Bartender Trixi also sings if everybody’s drinks are full!
