Are there any local roofers that do roof repairs?

I called A Better Roofing Company, recommended in the roofing thread, and they do not do them. Know any that will do the small stuff?

Jimmy Fuda Yankee Construction (he’s my husband). He does pretty much anything he can! He does a great job and very fair prices. Licensed and bonded. (206)310-4986 http://www.yankeeconstruct.com He’s done many jobs for WS Blogges! Good Luck!

Jimmy Fuda, Yankee construction, please don’t take this the wrong way. You are registered as a specialty contractor and it is against the law to perform and to advertise as a general contractor. You need to upgrade your license immediately. The only reason I bring this up as I was interested in your services, and did my homework before contacting you. I cannot consider you until you are in compliance with state contracting laws.

Flagged to this. And with a good point. Cloudy, business complaints per our rules have to be brought to the management/owner’s attention directly. Have you done that?

No. I didn’t do that because your rules require that I report this to the authorities. This could have brought fines and or action against someone whose in a very tough competitive business. I didn’t want to email the company directly as my name would be used. My intention is to warn them that they are in harms way and to remedy the situation asap. I am not trying to ruin or rant their business only to help them. Since was the victim of an unethical contractor, I feel for both people that are harmed by an underinsured contractor and those who are ignorant of the law. I believe that this is the one situation which warrants a unique approach. This is a public forum and people are allowed to promote themselves, I appeal that my response should be kept public. Not only is my response used to inform the business but also to educate on the importance of the public to do their due diligence when hiring a contractor. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers.

We are aware of that. If there is a job that is outside what he is licensed to do, we work with a couple General Contractors, Capitol Hill Construction, Berg Construction or Aquarius Construction. The homeowner is fully informed of that. He has been working closely with them to learn all the ins and outs of being a General. As that is our intention to switch over to General. In no way was I trying to be shady or deceptive. Thanks for doing your homework. It does help to weed out the ones that are operating illegally. That is a constant battle in this industry. Again, I want to stress that we are honest, follow the rules and don’t do anything thats outside what he is licensed to do.

Thank you for understanding. Your website should be taken down now and carefully rewritten. Labor and Industries as well as the Attorney General would have a field day with the statements you have displayed. Again I am trying to help you. You have written on your website: I can remodel any room of your home, from all of the rough, to all of the finish work. “I do all of the work myself. The only jobs that require subs are electrical or plumbing.”

“I can also do exterior projects. I can roof your home, put siding up, add windows and doors, paint , or add additions.” This is NOT something that you should be advertising. You show pictures of items that are not in your specialty and can get you into trouble. I would change your website immediately! Please note that the L&I and the AG can still come after you. So to follow the rules you MUST have your license number and address on everything that carries your name, not just your UBI number. You must only advertise your specialty. Which is cabinets, trim, and finish. Even acting as a sub under another GC you still have to stay within your specialty. To further help you here is a document from L&I. http://www.lni.wa.gov/TradesLicensing/Contractors/files/3-27-2008factsheet.pdf

cloudy…maybe it’s just me, but perhaps you should just contact this person privately, if you have concerns, instead of what sounds to me as some sort of almost “berating”. We have now read your concerns, and , yes, buyer should always beware…but you really seem to be taking this to the next level, almost ordering these people to “change your website immediately”. They’ve been in business for a while, and I think that while you are trying to make sure everything is on the up and up, it seems , to me, anyway, that you could do it in a more private way now. Just a thought.

JanS, you are absolutely right! My intentions were not to order them or berate anyone. As I said before, it was to help them but I do come off as an complete ass. It’s hard for me to get information through in a few sentences without sounding curt. Again I do apologize to the readers.

Hello! In an effort to keep our good name, I wanted to put it out there that Yankee Construction (YANKEC*926NF) is officially a licensed General Contractor. While at first I was a little taken back by how this was handled publically vs. contacting us directly, I am thankful. This was the kick in the butt to make “The Plunge”. Now there are no questions as to what we can and can’t do. I hope the above thread will not deter anyone from possibly using Yankee Construction for anything in the future. Thank You!

We’ve had Sloan Construction replace our house roof and then our garage roof. Mike Sloan is on-site and/or actively doing the roofing and really knows what he is doing. I would get a bid from him. He is a West Seattlelite and a pleasure to do business with! Sloan Construction (206)607-0420 http://sloanllc.org/default.aspx
