rykriteMemberMy six year old daughter is horse obsessed. She eats, drinks, sleeps, and breathes ponies. We finally broke down and gave her riding lessons for her birthday, but we’ve been driving all the way to Woodinville near Monroe…and now her trainer is moving.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a horse stable closer than that? Unfortunately, we have a budget (life would be so much easier if we did not!) but we would really love to do this closer to home. I’ve heard a rumor that there is a stable in West Seattle…is that true?
Thanks!

pigeonmomParticipantThere are lots of horses on Vashon, do a Google and maybe you’ll fine something there.

herongrrrlParticipantI’ve been trying to find out more about that local stable too, but all I’ve heard is that it is private, ie you can keep your own horse there but it isn’t a riding-lessons type stable.
The Vashon idea is a good one. There are some places in Maple Valley, too, I think, which is still a long drive but closer than Monroe!

guidosmomMemberYes, the barn is private, no lessons for kids. Sorry. What type of riding is your daughter interested in. There are several hunter/jumper barns for lessons in Maple Valley and Redmond. There are some 3 day eventing barns in Renton, Redmond, and I think on Vashon. There are various dressage barns around on Vashon, Bainbridge, and Redmond.

mcwhite72MemberHi, I googled west seattle horse riding lessons and a couple of places came up in Auburn.

graysongirlParticipantWell, if you find something in West Seattle, let us know. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? My husband drives out to Woodinville every Wed night to take riding lessons.

SpeakLoudMemberI went a couple of times to a woman in Burien who just did it with her own horses-not fancy or insured probably? but worth a try maybe. We stopped because my daughter wasn’t that into it and kind of young.
Her name is Burnadette and her number is 243-7849

lala2momParticipantThe greatest greatest stable for riding lessons is Westside Stable on Vashon Island. My daughter has been riding with Cici, the owner, for years now, and we can’t imagine anything better. It’s not too snooty–just West Seattle and Vashon perfect! Cici often runs a shuttle from the ferry dock to her place.
