mellaw6565MemberDid anyone catch the speaker from Texas who said the John McCain will put family and values over politics and identity?
Gee, that’s surprising.
September 4, 2008 at 12:35 am #636681
mellaw6565MemberOMG – the Republicans are dancing! Is that allowed?
September 4, 2008 at 12:40 am #636682
mellaw6565MemberNever mind – they’re not dancing. They have no rhythm!
C’mon – isn’t anybody having any fun with this?

GenHillOneParticipantDid I miss CEOs speaking at the DNC? I’m not sure that my opinion of Ebay or HP goes up with their participation here. Whether that’s a good business move – to so closely align with half(ish) of the population – I wonder. The (former?) HP executive was an AWFUL speaker… monotonous, dry, ugh. And either no one is there or no one is paying attention – an obvious lack of applause when people are speaking.
September 4, 2008 at 1:06 am #636684
mellaw6565MemberYes – I noticed that the delegates are totally unengaged with their speakers for the most part.
Yes – lots of CEO’s and preachers. I’m not hearing alot of substance. Maybe that will be later?

CaitParticipantJust caught the tail end of Huckabee’s speech just now. Anyone watching the MSNBC coverage? Ole’ Keith couldn’t let him have a moment at the end there before correcting two factual errors in his speech. Would he have jumped so quickly on a Dem? Just a thought…
Can’t wait for Palin! I’ve got MY popcorn ready.
September 4, 2008 at 2:16 am #636686
TammiWSMemberDrill baby drill????? OMG.
September 4, 2008 at 2:20 am #636687
CPMemberIs anyone seein’ this?! The term “islamic terrorism” DOES offend Muslims who are NOT terrorists (and there are many.) Let’s forget about them, let’s generalize a bit and further piss off the people we would do better to be diplomatic with at this point. Rudy Giuliani is spewin’ some venom tonight, with some garnish of 9/11… we were all waiting for it weren’t we?
September 4, 2008 at 2:26 am #636688
TammiWSMember“One of the most successful and powerful governors?” Wow… They make it sound like she’s running the State of Calif….Rudy is stooping way to low…His sarcasm is pathetic.
September 4, 2008 at 2:26 am #636689
dustinParticipant[Giuliani referring to Palin] “She’s got an 80% approval rating!”
According to my Alaskan wife, that is a load of bull.
September 4, 2008 at 2:29 am #636690
CPMemberNot too many of the dems had to raise their voice to get their point across. He was up there screaming… certainly says something in itself doesn’t it.
September 4, 2008 at 3:01 am #636691
addParticipantUgh! I had to stop watching Sarah Palin. So smug and self-righteous. I assumed she would give a good speech and was willing to be (somewhat) open-minded, but she was just over the top with those swipes at Obama, who she probably didn’t know one thing about before last week. Ugh again!!
PS – I did note that not all of the delegates were cheering on those applause lines…
September 4, 2008 at 3:04 am #636692
kParticipantanyone else see the “hoosiers for the hot chick” button? is this the best they can do? they keep talking about sexism…what do you call that? she’s cheney in a wig people.
September 4, 2008 at 3:05 am #636693
MissKMemberI have yet to see a African American, Asian American, Latino, Special Needs person in that audience.
This “nightmare” world she speaks of…….she hasn’t been anywhere. She only got her passport to do the photo op in Kuwait.
I think this speech has given me heartburn!!
September 4, 2008 at 3:07 am #636694
CPMemberIf you use 3rd grade logic and 3rd grade insults, you appeal to the lowest common denominator. I saw so much animosity and so much bitterness in those people – particularly in Sarah Palin. This isn’t the world I want to live in! I feel like I live in a better America than this underhanded rhetoric and the divisive swiping! She makes her points – but I’d like to see her on her feet against Biden. Hard to be so smug when you’re a pitbull in lipstick next to a seasoned expert in foreign policy.
September 4, 2008 at 3:07 am #636695
mellaw6565MemberOk- is she running for VP or cheerleading squad?
Also, she talked about veto power. She has not mentioned bipartisanship – a key to not having to use your veto power. Sounds like more divided government to me.
Oh – and the hockey mom joke – stupid!
September 4, 2008 at 3:09 am #636696
mellaw6565MemberIs that it? Where’s the beef?
September 4, 2008 at 3:11 am #636697
kParticipantexploiting your child with down’s syndrome. they are not supposed to be in loud rooms. she is horrible. the woman is horrible. went to work 3 days after giving birth to him and now holds him like a doll.
September 4, 2008 at 3:12 am #636698
mellaw6565MemberYeah – I noticed that in another video yesterday about the way she holds them.
Boy, I am really disappointed by her presentation tonite. It was so poor that I don’t even have a response.
September 4, 2008 at 3:14 am #636699
TrickParticipantI’m stunned at the the numerous inaccuracies she made….okay, not really surprised.
September 4, 2008 at 3:15 am #636700
CPMemberLet’s enumerate some of those because I’m sure I missed quite a few by just being so stunned.
September 4, 2008 at 3:17 am #636701
mellaw6565MemberSeriously, I would have loved to have some things to discuss after she spoke, but I’m at a loss. It was a snide, self-serving and empty speech. My debate kids could have done a lot better!
September 4, 2008 at 3:18 am #636702
MissKMemberShe was snide and very passive agressive. Plus, her baby is probably going to go deaf now too.
September 4, 2008 at 3:19 am #636703
addParticipantSnide, smug, snarky – she did it all, without ever taking her eyes off the teleprompter. Plus, did anyone else notice this or did there seem to be a slight delay between the audio/video – so it looked like she was being dubbed? I’m sure it was just a comcast thing but it was a bit distracting…
September 4, 2008 at 3:20 am #636704
TrickParticipantCP, for one, when she said that Obama will raise your taxes, I’m assuming everyone in that auditorium was making over $250k a year, then she would be correct.
