    The Recreation Program Administrator at Associated Recreation Council works closely with Community Center or Elementary School staff to assist with the organization, implementation and administration of Recreation and Enrichment programs. This position provides onsite administration in the daily operations of our school year programs. Our programs provide safe, engaging and educational after-school opportunities to elementary age youth. Some examples of classes include chess, language, dance, and Lego robotics.

    This position will be based out of Alki Community Center, but run at Alki Elementary School.

    Schedule:
    •Monday – Friday 30 hours per week (may vary; usually between 11:00am-5:00pm) during the school year
    •Must be able to work year-round, with the ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer months in a summer day camp program

    Responsibilities:
    •Teach Recreation and Enrichment classes as needed
    •Acts as liaison to school administration, community center staff and parents
    •Manage tracking daily attendance and site based communication
    •Oversee Program Aides, Instructors and Independent Contractors specific to the site
    •Provide support to Class Instructor, Program Aides and Independent Contractors to ensure they have all the equipment necessary to provide an enriching experience for all program participants
    •Maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, and community in a diverse, multi-cultural setting; assist in the coordination, development, implementation and support of ARC program activities
    •Create and maintain a quarterly budget for each enrichment class and program
    •Assist with class marketing by creating bulletin boards, flyers, and web announcements when necessary
    •Monitor and maintain all registration materials on site
    •Provide hands-on supervision of participants as appropriate and respond to emergency situations promptly and in accordance to ARC policy
    •Maintain a safe and secure environment for children and be aware of child activities at all time
    •Must be willing to complete training for certification in First Aid/CPR, Food Handlers Permit, HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens education, and STARS training
    •Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    •Eighteen years of age or older
    •At least one year experience working with youth in a recreation setting or childcare setting
    •Demonstrated experience supervising, leading, training, and managing staff
    •Experience with administrative reporting such as attendance, contract paperwork, registration, emergency contacts, health concerns, etc.
    •Experience developing curriculum and creating and managing budgets
    •Ability to provide excellent customer service by building relationships and communicating effectively with students, families, school administration, and our partners at Seattle Parks and Recreation
    •Must be able to work year round, with the ability to work up to 40 hours during summer months
    •High School diploma/GED or transcripts of secondary education
    •Clear Tuberculosis results within the past year
    •Background or experience in Environmental Education, Environmental Studies, and/or Middle School Programming is a plus!!
    •Current First Aid, CPR, and Food Handler’s Permit or willingness to attain
    •Valid Washington State Driver License and must be willing to provide driving record check
    •Must pass criminal background check
    •Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID
    •Must sign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account or Payroll Paycard
