BBMemberAnyone else seen the SUPER angry guy yelling at the Real Change lady who is often at the Cali liquor store? I was there Friday and as I was walking out he was yelling at her about being in that spot (and mumbling about someone else being a “weak woman”). I’ve seen him there before sitting in his older minivan w/ dis-abled plates (although he clearly walks around just fine) just staring at her with an angry look…. Not to be an alarmist but the dude just seems CREEPY

AimParticipantLots of us who have disabled plates appear to “walk around just fine.” — I’m a bit touchy on this one, as I got the hairy eyeball from quite a few people at Costco today as I loaded my trunk. Disabilities aren’t all visible, and disabled spots aren’t only for wheelchair users. Many of us have arthritis, cardiac conditions, lung disease, spinal fusions or any one of a number of things that simply don’t show to those who don’t know us well enough to know the difference. However, it doesn’t mean that walking a great distance is any less of a challenge.
Rant aside, that guy sounds like a grade-a ass. Have you ever asked him (or the folks inside the business, or the real change vendor) what’s his deal?

GenHillOneParticipantBB – on the alley side? Are you sure she was a RC vendor? Not that I’m at the liquor store frequently *cough* but I’ve never seen one there. There is a lady that sits against the wall and panhandles pretty regularly though. If it was her, I’ve never thought that was a great situation and have said something inside before.

HMC RichParticipantSome people say I’m handicapped since I am a republican.
What stinks is when someone who “walks just fine” has a handicap but another handicapped person thinks they aren’t handicapped enough and the argument starts over a parking spot.
Usually the “less” handicap person would defer to the other but when the “more” handicapped person starts making snide remarks or starts yelling. That is when my friends tell them to get lost.
A little courtesy is nice, but if someone is in pain it is a little harder to be nice. Best not to make too many assumptions.

JoBParticipantHMCRich..
if i can find a parking space close enough i don’t park in the handicapped spots.. and when i had my plates people used to yell at me for taking spots from them:)
you can’t win.
being republican is only a mental handicap though and they don’t issue parking permits for that ;))))
just kidding!

BBMemberdidn’t mean to spark a debate about disabled parking. Just trying to describe what I saw… let’s try not to hi-jack posts?
