JayDeeParticipantRecently I have had two experiences that make me rave about West Seattle Produce: 1) I needed some chard for a soup and WSP was the next to the last stop. They had none on the shelf, so I asked and they confirmed they had no more. When I went to check out the girl behind the register asked if red chard would do? I said yes, and she got her backpack out and brought out a last bunch of slightly bruised chard and said she was going to take it home, but I could get the chard I needed.
2) I asked one of the managers what I could add to make some Lox goat cheese apps better. He suggested capers and thinly-sliced red onion. So I went to get a small red onion and he handed me a bruised larger one and said it was on the house because I am a good customer…Sweet.
Lastly they have good prices and they try hard to get you what you need. Tony’s has good prices but is 2 miles or so away. The selection at WSP is top notch and they care about produce. So I give them two thumbs up.

IrukandjiParticipantFunny and friendly, the really DO offer help without pushing, keep their produce beautifully displayed, and there is a TACO TRUCK in their parking lot. When I die, I want to go THERE.

JoBParticipantthere’s no taco truck in tony’s parking lot…
but there is a great little convenience store across the street…
and helpful people…
and a dollar bin that has some surprising finds…
and a whole lot of very fresh produce with more emphasis on local providers than last year…
if you haven’t been there yet this year you should check out tony’s again.
you might be surprised.

dhgParticipantIs there much info about West Seattle Produce? I haven’t gone because we get good produce at PCC and because anyone can say they provide local, organic stuff but how do we know it’s true? I feel like they missed a chance by not having a table at the fauntleroy food fair….

JanSParticipantdhg…they also have a location at Pike Place Market..check out the website…

AlParticipantI like WSP very much. The prices are lower than the grocery and the quality is very high. And it’s right on my route home from work so I can stop by any time. Closer to home than Tony’s for me.

JoBParticipantAl..
and i seldom drive that section of Fauntleroy…
when i do it’s generally to visit the taco truck :)
so Tony’s works better for me.
i hope there is enough business to support both

KatieKParticipantLOVE WSP!
Easy Parking, great location, great customer service, bathroom open to customers, and most importantly, FANTASTIC PRODUCE!
I’m so glad WSP came along because I had a terrible service experience 2 year ago at Tony’s that left me unwilling to give them my business… Regardless of the Tony’s experience, the produce at WSP is great.

JoBParticipantKatieK..
and i had a terrible service experience at WSP while Tony’s was closed
that has greatly reduced my desire to shop there :(
That doesn’t mean i don’t occassionally darken their door.
i suspect each of us has had a bad service experience somewhere..
maybe even a time or two at our favorite shops.
I confess.. and i know this is a sacrilege … but i once had a bad service experience at Zippy’s..
and i still can’t wait for them to open in their new location ;->
I sincerely hope there is enough business on our little island for both West Seattle Produce and Tony’s since they both fill a need in our community…
getting excited about veggies is a good thing…
regardless of where you choose to buy them.

RDHMemberI can not tell you how much I love the WSP!! I try to do 100% of my produce shopping there. They always have excellent advice about whats fresh and good. I have never gone home with anything bad… ever! I love that they have milk (raw too), eggs, bread, spices, teas. Now, if they would just sell bacon and wine I would hardly have to go anywhere else. They remember me and my family every time I go there. Ask how the kids are even when they are not with me.
Ever time I go there I am given amazing samples of yummy goodness. Sometimes if i’m unsure if my family will like it they give me a small bit to take home. Today while I was there, I told Bruce what I was going to make for dinner and he pulled out some new olive oils and balsamic to try. Of course, I ended up taking one home cause it was so great. Everyone is so friendly and always makes my day to go there.
They are my own personal “produce pusher”… Im hooked and keep going back for more!
They do except cash/ plastic.
Taco Truck is also great!!

ElizagraceParticipantLove West Seattle Produce! such an easy location and parking lot to get in and out of.
Their produce is always fresh and the prices are really good for the quality you get. I try to get as much produce there as I can.
Must try to taco truck next time!
