My husband and I just got lunch here & it was DELICIOUS! We consider ourselves fairly picky when it comes to food, and neither of us could find a thing we didn’t like about what we ordered. We shared the Torta (can’t remember the name, but it’s currently the only one on the menu with the house made chorizo & shredded pork)) and the al pastor tacos. We also got chips & salsa, which came with the warm, freshly fried tortilla chips, yum! The meat was lean, no fatty bits anywhere, but still juicy and very flavorful.

We happened to be the only ones there when we first walked in, so we had a few minutes to talk with the owner who rang up our order. He told us business has been a lot busier than they thought it would be so soon, with NO marketing (thanks WS Blog!). They weren’t prepared for this, and therefor ran out of some items & took longer than they had hoped to get some orders out. They are still working out some kinks in their flow, so if you go in the next week or so keep that in mind.

Put this place on your radar, it has awesome food & really friendly people running the place!

We’ll be back for sure (next time we’re getting fish tacos, another specialty on the menu).

I have to slip this in here. Last monday afternoon, I stopped by Pica. Their new menu wasn’t up on the board. Just their sandwich fare. I met and spoke with the new owner, not realizing he was a new owner. I ordered a burger and fries to go. Took them home, ate them. And three hours later was sicker than a dog. I had only had a piece of toast earlier , so know it wasn’t that. This went on until early Wednesday morning, and left me drained and a few lbs. lighter. Was it the food I had there? Well, I can only surmise. But it sure did leave me thinking that I didn’t want to eat there any time soon.(Being sick like that is kinda bad for someone on dialysis)

I’m glad they’re getting good reviews. I’m glad the food is tasty.I’m really sorry I had such a bad experience.

Jan, what happened whe u contacted the owner? You more than anyone else knows that’s a requirement before adding such a post.

thanks for that reminder/ Can I prove that’s what made me sick? No. Do I wish these guys well? Absolutely. I was busy at dialysis when I got ill..and did not contact the owner. I am not ranting, just stating a fact. Was at the docs the next morning, so..sorry. If you’d like me to take the post down, I certainly will.

Notice, I did not come on here and post my own rant. I was going to just let it go, considering the front page article about them. i wish them well.

Don’t worry, everyone. Based on the posts on this blog you’d think everyone was sick or deranged, but it’s simply not true.

and you’re here because? This is a thread about a restaurant…if you can’t join in the conversation about the topic, maybe you need to start your own thread?

I drove by Pica this afternoon about 3pm…there were a number of people inside…hope this is a good sign. I’d like to see them make a go of it here…in spite of my experience (if indeed, it was an experience about them)

Jan, since you’re insinuating that their food MIGHT have made you sick…I want to believe you want them to succeed, so I suggest this. Rather than posting something random on this blog that the owner may not see, or that might catch the attention of food inspectors, I suggest you call the owner and let him know you MIGHT have had a problem with his food. Maybe they need to a refresh on proper food handling or cooking temps. But really, if you want them to succeed, do something positive to help them, rather than a “they might have made me sick” post.

Our rules don’t just relate to new rants or complaints. A forum post or news story about a business or person is not a gateway to create an opportunity to say anything about that business or person. If it is a complaint, whether it appears as a reply or an original post, it has to include information about that having been brought to the owner/manager’s attention. I understand that in the throes of a possible illness reaction, it’s not the time to pick up the phone and do that, and unlike a “they took forever to serve me” type of restaurant complaint, this one, you wouldn’t have known about till afterward, but as BC suggests, please do so now … it might help others, if there is something they need to re-examine.
