bsmommaParticipantI know people have said this more than once but Ken is AWESOME! He just helped out my mom. She got a NASTY virus and it pretty much disabled her computer. She’s unemployed and looking at/for jobs on the internet is her life these days. Ken not only knows his stuff he has a HUGE heart and I am so grateful for him helping my momma out.

kmweinerMemberI will ditto that. My god daughter’s computer crashed just as she was leaving for college. Ken repaired it completely so that she is happily able to do her school work. We couldn’t have paid to have it repaired–we would have had to get a new computer. He is one great person.

I have to use this opportunity to beg for older (but not too old) laptops I can fix up for those with no fixed address or with limited or non existent budgets. XP era p4’s are often sitting on a closet shelf when they could be back out on the street.
I also have one Powermac g4 that would still be usable (until firefox drops support) if I can borrow or buy a retail copy of 10.5.x Leopard. The only ones I find are in the 200.00 range. The computer is barely worth that…
Thanks to all of you who have donated computers both live and dead. Many of the parts are back out there like transplants giving new life to aged machines :)
Some of the older carcasses (the last of the p-3’s) will be going to this weekends e-cycle event at Fauntleroy church to make room for hopefully some newer stuff :) The printers are going away too since it is nearly always cheaper to buy one than to fix one and the parts are just not available at any price.
No one should have to live with a damaged or infested pc just because they can’t afford the fees at commercial businesses. Those businesses have overhead, rent and employee paychecks to consider and just can’t spend the time on stuff that I can.
But most of all I enjoy doing it. I have 20 years experience fixing computers and networks and I can only amuse myself with my own computers for so long before it gets boring.
Thanks for the puzzles and bizarre symptoms you have brought me over the years :)

Plus, as an added bonus, he uses that there fancy computer jargon as well! ;-)

I have your 10.5.X install disk…I think it should work. You will have to sit through 8 upgrades to get the 10.5.9, but I have the disk. Will touch base about this weekend.
