kellymParticipantfor the recomendation…today I had to send Jasper off to the big dog park and the staff at the clinic could not have been kinder. Especially as I’m not a regular patient they really stepped up this morning to be there.
RIP Big Guy you were a real sweetheart…..

livingonthebeachMemberSorry to hear about Jasper. You were just in at The Wash Dog and I remember us talking about the awesome love he brought your family. It’s never easy to let a special family member go.
I agree on both accounts. WSB is simply the best resource out there….and Lien couldn’t be kinder and more accomodating when we have lost dogs that need to be scanned for microchip.
And on a side note, I’m not sure how your family is coping with the loss, but the Animal Shelter offers a pet loss support group every Thursday at 6:00pm at their 2061 15th Avenue West facility on Queen Anne. 206-386-PETS. It was a great source of support and awareness for my family.
Here’s to Jasper playing in the big park in the sky…go get the ball buddy!

francis57MemberSo sorry to hear about the loss of your (or anyone else’s) beloved companion. I’m not sure my husband and I are prepared for the day our two beautiful dogs leave us because they’re more like our kids than our kids are or were.
Lifelong companionship and loyalty is so special and should be treasured.
On another note, I’m not sure why there’s such a fascination with praising “the Blog” at every turn, and not sure I understand the correlation between losing a companion / friend / family member and the usefulness of all the community information provided on this website. I do not mean disrespect, just trying to understand.

kellymParticipantI guess because people care enough to give thoughtful replies to questions and requests for information. I did not have a relationship with a vet, and this is not the best time or situation for trial by error.

furryfacesParticipantkellym, our thoughts are with you and your family. If we remember correctly, your family recently adopted Jasper, a senior dog. Thank you for opening your hearts to him and bringing him into your family. He knew love and had a chance to give it back too. F3

tom kelleyParticipantWhen we adopted Gracie she was a scared, abused and emaciated Rottweiler. After trying three vets a neighbor suggested Lien. We took her to see Dr. Tim and in short order her health improved like one would expect from a trip to Lourdes or Fatima. After eight years of excellant care he came to the house to help her pass in her own bed.

Garden_nymphMemberI am so very sorry for you loss, kellym. We too have had wonderful experiences with Lien and they were kind and very supportive when we had to put one of our furry family members down. They worked out a payment plan when we needed treatment and later surgery for our dog. I hope not to need a heartbreaking house call any time soon, but it’s good to know Lien can take care of that difficult time too!
As for you, Francis57, I can say that personally, I thank the WSB because THEY created a place where neighbors can ask questions and notify each other regarding burglaries, local jobs get posted, invitations are extended for events and kudos can be given to those who have earned them. It lets us know when and where Girl Scout cookies are being sold and offers us many dining suggestions. I like getting feedback about restaurants BEFORE going, so I can decide if I am willing to dine there. It is for the above mentioned reasons, and many more that I didn’t mention that WSB is being thanked. I find their service to this community more than worthy of praise and am not sure how you could be so confused!
I apologize to KellyM for taking any attention away from the original purpose of her post and again would like to offer my condolences for the loss of her furry family member.

MousePotatoMemberkellym, so very sorry for your loss. We have a few furry friends that will be devastating to lose when the time comes. Lien has been an outstanding resource for us over the years.
You might want to stop reading now. The rest of this post has nothing to do with your loss but I feel a necessary response to an insensitive post….
Kinda rude francis57 and the wrong time to pick a fight. Really? THIS is the thread that you choose to use to question someone’s appreciation for the blog? Gosh, thanks for your backhanded and insincere sentiment for their lost family member. By YOUR verbiage this is a more difficult loss than losing a child yet you can’t get past your apparent distaste in the blog in your attempt to ‘console’ them. Reading some of your other posts it is clear that you are less than enamored by the blog so maybe this isn’t the place for you. Go get a newspaper and get over yourself….

kParticipanti would like to add a rave for Lien Animal Clinic, as well. our greyhound has been diagnosed with bone cancer and the staff at the clinic has been exceptional. they are kind, caring and truly seem invested in the health of our grey. they are truly easing the pain of this difficult time.

First I’m sorry for your loss, but I cannot say how strongly I strongly I feel about this place.
To put it simply they killed my dog and then tried to charge me for it!
They prescribed an incorrect dosage of a medication for my dog. This was for a pretty simple common complaint (joint pain after a fall). The result was that my dog had to undergo several transfusions and 2 days in their office. This was not successful in saving his life. He wound up dying regardless.
It wasn’t until after this that we discovered that the dosage given was 10X the amount appropriate for the weight.
To make matters worse a week after the dog died they sent us a bill for the services they performed trying to save the dog. Remember these are the services that their error made necessary. It took us threatening to take THEM to court for them to cease attempting collections.
Please never send anyone to this vet. They are killers.
