anonymeParticipantJoe is absolutely wonderful to work with. It took a bit longer to get him out this time, but it was worth it. (He’s a one-man show, so I understand.) Joe is fun, fast and efficient. He replaced my old leaky waste pipe in no time at all – so quickly that he had time left to fix my bathroom faucet, too! His prices are very modest, and he doesn’t try to rip you off or sell you stuff you don’t need. Great guy, great work.

schwaggyParticipantJoe is the best. Can’t say that enough about this guy. I’ve had him out 4 or 5 times for things like hot water heater replacement, ice maker hook up, coffee machine plumb-in, pressure regulator, water main repair, hose bib.
Simply great to deal with, and does a good job for a fair price.

annaeileenParticipantI agree, Joe is a great plumber with fair prices, provides great advise and is just wonderful to work with!
I had a toilet running all of the time that a friend tried and failed to fix so I called SW plumbing and their bid was $600 to rebuild and $900 to replace. I told the man no, that was too expensive as I have replaced toilets before for less (I understand they are professionals but my brother can fix anything only he doesn’t live here)and thanked him for his time (and provided this feedback to SW Plumbing). I called Joe and he said, you can fix it yourself, it’s just a rubber ring. Try it first then call me. I bought a $3 ring from McClendon’s and replaced it and it no longer runs! My boyfriend said we owe Joe at least a gift certificate. I had Joe out today to replace our kitchen faucet and he did a great job for a fair price.
I can’t say enough nice things for the service he provides.

singularnameParticipantWow … I’m loving the recommendations tonight. I need some plumbing maintenance, so I will be ringing up Joe.
I saw a truck from “a very prominent local plumbing company” parked down the block today for about 4 hours, and boy did I feel bad for the homeowner when that ordeal ended. …
ETA: Oh, and I’m seeing that company mentioned above (yes, I did have quite a row with the management there)–they were completely beyond the pale. It wasn’t the price, although it was insane–it was the constant disrespect, with a mock face of terror when one of the two busted out that I had a *horrendous* leak/pool of water around the toilet base–“Duh! You just stuck a huge machine into the bowl that was full to the brim!” *lol* And then telling me I needed a new toilet because mine was at least 30 years old–“Duh! I bought it brand new and had it installed in 2002!” They took trying to take advantage of the lil helpless woman to a whole knew level. I guess I just turned a Rave into a Rant … couldn’t help myself. It’s the pizza craving.

EarthMamaParticipantJoe rocks! We had the same running toilet issue here at our home, but I was determined to fix it myself before raising the white flag and calling for help; it was clearly the the ring. The problem was, our terlet “was” that 25 years old piece of work, not a user friendly model, and I’d disassembled far more than needed to fix a simple problem. Basically, I didn’t know what the hell I was doing!
Enter Joe on a late Sunday afternoon. He arrived at a moments notice, kindly amused at my DIY attempt. Since everything was already in pieces, it was a simple job of putting it all back together again and I came out of the whole deal with my humility intact having received an E for effort, and, an invoice well under what would be expected for a Sunday call-out.
Joe clearly cares about his clients. He educates them, thus enabling them to make informed decisions for the things in their home they “own”, rather than having to make on the spot, fear-based decisions.
A quick note to fellow consumers: in any situation requiring potentially costly repairs, conifer doing the following:
● ask family and friends who they like/used trusted in the past, AHEAD OF TIME. Create a list, i.e electrician, plumber, mechanic, etc.
• lacking a referral, and if it’s a non-emergency situation, call around and get quotes and second opinions. Ask everything- when does the “the clock start”? Do they charge per mile from their location to your home in addition to their service,? How do they charge for a quote- (you may not use their service, yet end up having to pay for having pay for them to come out to tell you their price for repairs.)
Information is power. There is nothing worse than feeling ripped off, as you are the one who has to live in your home and you want to feel good about whatever it is that you have to use or look at every day- not regret it.
Sorry for the long post, I speak from experience and have seen it happen to many times as well.

4th of EightParticipantDitto on Joe The Plumber, everything mentioned above me is true about him. SW Plumbing should be out of business for beyond lack of ethics. Had REALLY bad experiences with them a long time ago, and when we questioned the owners, he and his wife just ‘played dumb’ so good they need and Oscar Award. Do not fall for their friendly-all hype advertising. Joe C. deserves your business because he is available, honest and reliable. (Hope someone at SWPlumbing reads all these posts. They should be ashamed of themselves.) ThankYOU Joe!!!
