We went to the newly opened BPP on Friday night and it was fantastic! The place turned out great! Just loved it! It was like being at a neighborhood party. Such a good vibe inside. Lots of happy folks coming in for a sunny early evening of delicious beer and neighborly cheer. Kudos to all who made it happen! Now, if I could just learn to play Skittles……

We stopped in for the first time this afternoon – same vibe as “k” reports, but on a cloudy & rainy Sunday afternoon. The bar itself is beautiful (amazing woodwork) and we thoroughly enjoyed it – will look forward to a warm evening out on the patio (warm evening – someday?).

add, you probably saw us in there yesterday afternoon!

I have to say, I much prefer it when it is not busy. It has a tendency to get a little loud in there when crowded.

k- thank you! I could not for the life of me recall the name of that game!

hubby and i stopped in last week… it’s really bright and airy inside…

but noisy… i hope they hang stuff on the walls to absorb some of that sound…

If i were an hangout sort of girl these days. i think that is where i would choose to hang.

So, how does it compare to the old space? What I liked about their previous location is that it felt ‘lived in’, like a good pub should. Also, I really liked the two different feels of the front area vs. the back room. The front was all civilized talking and board games, while the back room had a jukebox and lots of bar games, i.e. foosball, darts, pool, etc.

My fear is that the new place might feel too sterile, what with being new construction and all. ‘Bright and airy’ is not my idea of what a good pub should be (unless it’s down on Alki). My fears could be way off base, though. Are they unfounded.

    villagegreen..

    it’s not sterile..

but it doesn’t have that lived in feel yet either… I am sure that will come with time.

    and there still is separation…

i was pleased to see that although they put a large window in the central wall to spill light into the pub… they put glass in in it to contain sound…

you have to check it out for yourself.. the bar is still there.. there are hooks on the wall for coats.. and there were plenty of dogs…

i don’t think all the light will bother you much:)

sterile is definitely a word I would avoid. It feels a lot like the old place…just with bigger bathrooms and nicer floors. :)

I went for the first time (ever – I moved here five months ago) on Saturday to watch the baseball game. I was really impressed with it.

Not to sound hokey, but it was the happiest bar I’ve ever been to. Seriously. Both rooms had great vibes to them – people all seemed to know each other, they were comfortable enough to bring their dogs, and the beer selection was outstanding. No hint of surliness, no trace of obnoxiousness or pretension that even the best bars can have. It was a little too clean, if anything.

I’m gonna go back, hopefully with someone to talk to besides the big TV.

first things first…welcome to West Seattle, elgrego…glad to have you here..

remember, it just opened in it’s new spot last week…give it a bit of time to get that “worn” look :)

    Hello

We apologize for brawling in front of your pub.

We are from Texas originally, but many years ago, and still have certain ways of expressing our platonic friendship that are not common to this particular locality.

After some discussion, we have agreed not to do it again. You have a beautiful pub with an astounding range and wonderful folk to assist with selection. I look forward to future patronage with a more civilized manner from these certain patrons, with great respect to the house.

So I just went there Friday night and I really liked it. I like the attempts at a homely feeling, it was very inviting. So Whats the deal with the dogs? Can I bring my dog there? That’d be cool.

The c and b just returned from prowling WS, including BPP. Met great dogs, great people, played a game, drank wine (bad Charla) and genuinely recommend it again. I crave sunlight, so liked the new environment even more than the old.

Only down-sides I lost the game *and* found a new kind of dog to crave: Lab/Rhodesian Ridge Back, who was very well behaved as long as he was allowed to have his own chair.

    Charla –

At least you’re consistent with the lab mix thingy…I live with a lab/chow. I have yet to go to BPP but my dog has been to the old one with his sitter.

I have a beagle now, and have had several labs, but I definitely like the look of the Rhodesian Ridgeback. Any dog bred to kill lions has that “oh cool!” factor going for it too.

I do love me some labs — labs+pretty much anything. (Lab + Chow sounds really interesting.) Serious question — are Rhodesian Ridgebacks dangerous around cats? My cats are definitely not lions, but does the dog know that?

Meantime, I fell in love with Ralphie, who is “suspected” of having some lab. Since he was pi Dog Star of the Week, I imagine he’ll have a home long before I pass my dog adoption test. If any of you guys adopt him, I volunteer to be a doting step mom :-)

Larry is adorable — lab mixes are beyond cute; but I’m still not ready for a labradoodle. :-)

Does the BPP serve food? I’ve never been. If so, isn’t it illegal to allow dogs? Not that I’d complain. I live within walking distance, and I’d love to take my dog.

No, but they have a collection of menus you can order from. I guess that’s why they can allow dogs, since they don’t have a kitchen of their own.

the dogs allowed in the BPP are service dogs. service dogs are allowed inside businesses that allow service dogs. be sure if you bring your dog, it is a service dog. allow me to repeat: service dogs. get it? ;)
