sophistatikiMemberThis isssue has become a heated debate in my hosehold with a great divide of opinions! I seem to have no support for my rant so I’m sharing this with the hood.
I bought my Westood area house about 5 yrs ago, with in 2 days of moving in someone from the condo across the alley came over to tell me that they didn’t want people parking in the alley and were going to be putting up NO PARKING signs. No problem, whatever, I didnt even care at the time. The signs went up, ” no parking tow away fire lane” with arrows, evenly spaced from one end of the alley to the other, behind every ones house EXCEPT mine. My house is the ONLY one with a gate and a driveway that is used daily.
My rant is everyday I have to leave a note on someones car about not only parking in the fire lane but blocking my driveway. and guess what each person that is to lazy to park in the parking lot (provided for guests by the condo) is going to the condo.
So the condo made the rule, put up the signs we are all supposed to abide by but it doesnt happen to apply to them. WTF!?!?!
After 5 yrs of being polite and patient about it I cant take it any more. the last not-so-nice note I left on someones car was consequently stapled to my fench!! I left it there ’cause I thought it was funny that the guy just stapled it up for everyone to see. So now Im the bad guy for expecting the condo to follow their own rules!

datamuseParticipantHave you mentioned this to the condo? I’ve never lived in one but I understand there’s usually some sort of homeowners’ association or something in place that might be willing to address it?
Also, who owns the alley and what is its status? I live on an alley and the section in front of my house is my property, but it’s also a public right of way because the alley is the only access to properties on my block. Parking is technically not allowed along the entire stretch, though in fact it only tends to get enforced if someone’s actually blocking the way.

KenParticipantPut up a parking lot box with a slot. Charge 20.00 an hour.
Print up tow company signs with an address of an impound lot in Lynnwood.
enjoy.

KarlMemberAlley parkers and driveway blockers get a “note” from SPD traffic enforcement when they are reported.
