My aunt is trying to contact an old friend. She’s having no luck. Considering the friends age it’s possible she has passed away. How would you-and can you check city/county records to see if a person is deceased.

A couple things to try, both highly dependent on whether the person’s name was not too common:
-Find a site that’ll let you search the Social Security Death Index
-Search the web for the person’s first name, last name, and the word obituary

Perhaps a genealogy expert out there has more ideas.

You could always try the website http://www.findagrave.com if you know the year of birth (approximately). Good luck. I do this a lot for my parents’ friends that we haven’t heard from in a long time. I usually start by typing “First Name Last Name Obituary City State” into a search engine and then go from there.
