JoBParticipantAfter spending 3+ hours on the phone with Clear tech support since the 24th of March.. they finally sent a guy out to my house to “test my connection”.
This guy… who wouldn’t leave me a card or anything written… walked around my house with my modem placing it in windows looking for a signal… and you wouldn’t believe where he checked. The only reason he didn’t check the bathroom is that there is no outlet near the window… if there had been.. this fellow told me they could have plugged my modem in one outlet and a wireless device in the other and claimed service:(
anyway.. in spite of successfully using Clearwire for over a year.. we don’t get a Clear signal any more…
it turns out that in the latest upgrade they reduced the signal strength on the towers to just under a mile… and we are now in one of their newly created dead spots.
they coerced me into having this rep come to my home under the pretense of “verifying” that i didn’t have service so that i could opt out of my contract without a fee.
In reality.. they are mapping their dead spots.
I am supposed to be able to call and cancel in a couple of days without paying their opt out fee… but nothing has been said about refunding me for the service i didn’t get when they eliminated our service through “upgrades”.
We will see.. what i learned was that the second time you need to call tech support you need to become and immovable object and insist on a home speaking to someone who has more options.. and keep insisting till they give you a home evaluation…
as for the guy who came to my door.. it now occurs to me that even though i was expecting someone.. i shouldn’t have let that man into my house without providing me with both a card and identification:(
