JanSParticipantnice that people sign on just to berate someone…wow…
January 4, 2010 at 7:57 pm #685056
charlabobParticipantI noticed last week there was a plethora of “new” posters who logged on to laud Cherry and then went away. Now, one more…hmmmmmm.
BTW, I’ve been there once and was impressed (they gave me money back for an earring that turned out to be missing a piece — which they would not have had to do.) I gave up long ago finding or selling consignment clothes in average (or larger) sizes. So perhaps my standards are too low.

JoBParticipantWoo woo..
*i did read their consignment policy
*i followed it to the letter
*i spoke with an owner before bringing clothing in because the store had not carried much in the way of larger sizes previously
*i brought in only brand name current clothing
*i inquired about the clothing i had consigned monthly
*i expressed my concern that the clothing had been there 90 days without being displayed
*i contacted the store and requested the few items they had displayed be removed from the sales floor and one of the owners replied in writing that she would do so immediately.
*I had to ask that new items be removed from the sales floor when i arrived to pick up my consigned clothing.
Perhaps they should read their consignment policy. Their 60 days does not begin until they “book in” your clothing… and i didn’t see that in writing when i consigned.
I don’t know why you think insulting me will change what happened… But i have consigned clothing on a regular basis for several years now using several different consignment stores. I can assure you that i have never had this experience before because i am careful to speak with the owners of a store before bringing in clothing to make certain that what i have will fit with their marketing strategy.
I spoke up about my experience with this shop because i had publicly encouraged other women of size to consign and shop at Cherry Consignments…
use the search function on this site and you will have no problem finding my initial positive posts…
Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to my recommendations.
As for opening a shop of my own, i wish my body and our finances would allow that. There is a huge under served market in West Seattle. A shop supplying a full range of clothing options including consignment for the average size woman and larger would be a raging success.
In the meantime, I’ll consign elsewhere.

bluebirdMemberWhy shouldn’t people sign up to post a counter comment? I read the forums for a long time before joining or saying anything. Doesn’t mean I was brand new to the WSB. Usually a topic has to pique your interest to start somewhere. Why is that suspicious?
Cherry is always busy when I stop by and has many loyal customers including myself. Have never had an experience anything like this and hope the feelings of one poster doesn’t cost them any business.
There’s always two sides, as the saying goes, and we’re only hearing one.

GenHillOneParticipantThere were actually two posters that had similar experiences, but that seems to be lost here. And, of course, two sides always. I have had some stuff set aside to try the store myself and look forward to reporting back!

beachdrivegirlParticipantI still don’t even get this rant. It sounds like after closer inspection they changed their mind about the ability to sell. You pretty clearly state you threw a fit, so they put them out anyway. Then you were mad that they put them out and demanded them back. You did get them back, even though their policy is to donate them. So what exactly are you out, besides a couple of emails?
January 4, 2010 at 11:39 pm #685061
charlabobParticipantI was not saying people shouldn’t sign up to post a counter comment. I was just making sure people noticed that fact. I do not believe I have a right to tell people what they should and shouldn’t say.

JoBParticipantbeachdrivegirl..
at what point did i pretty much state i threw a fit?
i inquired when and whether my clothes would be available for sale on a monthly basis after i left them… while i was in the store shopping.
When I discovered that they were only going to display a small portion of my items after 90+ days, i informed them by email that i would like to pick them up.
And this constitutes a fit? I don’t think so.
So.. what would you call your behavior?
Your insinuations are more than a little personal… trashing the messenger instead of focusing on the message …
and how much do you really think you are helping this store by continuing to cast aspersions on my character and keeping this topic alive?
My guess is that they would just as soon call this one experience and move on …
As to what i am out.. aside from the work i did to get the clothing ready for consignment… and i do consider my time and effort of some value… i lost the opportunity to sell my clothing during the 3 busiest retail sales months of the year.
Much of what i consigned will have to be stored for nearly a year before it is seasonally appropriate again … and by the way.. it will be a year less current then… so not only did i lose opportunity.. i lost value. Good thing i don’t purchase many trendy items.
I am guessing that if you left your things with a store to sell and they just stored them in their back room without letting you know they weren’t interested in trying to sell them, you wouldn’t report a positive experience either.
So.. i have to guess that your biggest problem with all of this is that I am the one reporting this experience.
get over it…
genhillone…
they seem to do a brisk business in clothing in your size range.
i am betting you will do very well with your items there.

beachdrivegirlParticipantYou’re right JoB. I apologize. I thought I read that when in fact, I was just applying the adage of the best indicator of current behavior is past behavior. BTW, I didn’t resurrect this thread, woo woo did. But thanks for the scolding. I’m going to go get over it now

JoBParticipantbeachdrivegirl
that was a direct insult.
please remove it or it will flag it to the moderator.
January 5, 2010 at 3:12 am #685065
BarbGMemberand of course if you flag something it gets removed immediately, but for some of us we can flag and flag all day and nothing gets removed.
But I digress…

MrJTMemberAll of you need to just smoke a joint and relax
January 5, 2010 at 3:18 am #685067
TrisketParticipantO.M.G. What did any of you do before the internet? Do you act like this in public?
January 5, 2010 at 5:19 am #685068
JoBParticipantBarbG
you know.. i thought i had removed that.. but it would be pretty pointless now after your comment.
I realized her comment was too petty to bother flagging
but flagged or not, it’s still there
so your point?
Sorry to disappoint you… but beachdrivegirl has been directly insulting me for years now and she and her comments are still here…
perhaps i should start yelling discrimination?
MrJT..
some days i so wish a joint was one of my options..
or a drink.. i could really go for a tall dirty mother with a splash of soda right now …
oh well.. sleep beckons
