WSMomParticipantPresident Obama’s speech to school children is so important it should (in my opinion) be viewed by every family tonight right after dinner. I just called all of the neighborhood kids in to listen to what our President had to say and they all agreed that he is absolutely right! Obama isn’t saying anything new…stay in school, work hard, turn in your assignments, don’t expect to succeed the first time you try something, even Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team (wow, that made an impression!) I love that he is basically repeating everything I’ve ever said to my kids all in one speech. And he’s so cool, coming from him it doesn’t sound like nagging :)!

miwsParticipantI agree, it was a very good speech.
There are those, of course, that were saying even ahead of time, that it would be an indoctrination.
Guess I’ll have to view it again, to see if he was blinking in code. Or listen, or read the text of the speech, to see if something like reading only every fifth word reveals some evil plot.

jamminjMemberI think if you take every 13th letter of his speech there is a hidden message there…. something about satan or something.
my daughter came home and said something about doing homework first before playing her playstation… I know she must be possessed after watching Obama’s speech!!!

TheHouseMemberAs much as I am against President Obamas platform and the majority of his policies so far, even I have to say this is a harmless speech and don’t see what the uproar is about.
I read the speech several days ago as soon as it was posted on the White Houses website and found it to be void of politics (as it should be).
Don’t take your eye off the ball folks, this speech is not what’s dangerous. It’s his policies related to your personal freedoms (like healthcare) that you need to be worried about.

JanSParticipanthmmm…..did you listen to his speech this evening? I’m supposing that you don’t believe what he said? I, for one, am damned glad that he put the kibash on the panels to come do me in in my old age. That one really frightened me..was afraid that I might not make it to my next birthday. You gonna volunteer for that panel, Mr. House?
Could you enlighten us as to what our president is really gonna do? You seem to have the inside information.

Jan has thoughtfully provided a link to his speech on health care on the Obama’s speech..opinion? thread.
I nearly didn’t read it because i personally think our congress is on it’s way to a big sellout on what the American people need…
But the speech was a bit of a surprise to me… there is actually workable reform in his ideas even if they don’t meet my expectations.
You may find this speech doesn’t live up to all the republican hype either.
