Plumber recommendation

[BCR]

We are looking for a recommendation for a plumber to come give us a quote on replacing an existing sewer line and potentially relocating it.

Ideally, a smaller outfit vs a large one.

O’Neil Plumbing is the best smaller plumbing contractors in the area. They are family owned, honest and do a great job. They are not the cheapest but I would warn that you get what you pay for. Especially in plumbing.

I just had my whole house piped and the service line from the road to the house replaced by O’Neil Plumbing. Fast and did a great job!

We just had a full side sewer line replacement done by Green Planet Plumbing and were very satisfied. GPP is also a West Seattle business (located on Fauntleroy). The owner, Tyler, is a person of great expertise and integrity and I was super happy we went with him. Definitely get a bid from them!

Be sure to avoid Southwest Plumbing. They overcharge, ALWAYS claim something about your plumbing requires immediate major repairs, and vary wildly in the quality of customer service or followup.

O’Neil absolutely! I’ve been recommending them for years. Full side sewer replacement plus re-plumbing on multiple projects. Large projects and small. I would never use anyone else.

I have to agree with Forest regarding Southwest Plumbing. We called them to work on some older plumbing. The worker became frustrated for some reason and threw his tools across the room.

I’ve used Fischer Plumbing for years.They do a professional job and stand by their work. The main water line to my 4 plex failed under the parking lot. Fischer located it, excavated the parking lot, repaired the line and patched the asphalt so it doesn’t even show that it was dug up. I had problems with ONeill on 2 calls so I don’t recommend them. To relocate a sewer line requires heavy equipment and experienced workers. A smaller company may not have that expertise or the equipment.

Highly recommend Green Planet Plumbing. Not only are they the best plumbing company I’ve ever worked with in our 22 years of home ownership, but they are one of the best businesses I’ve ever worked with.

Everything in the process of our side-sewer job was handled professionally from start to finish. From the bid, to scheduling, the work, to the completion of the job. I was there the entire time they were working, asking questions (I like to understand what is being done). Both Gabe and Tyler were happy to answer all my questions.

Their work was meticulous, the job site was cleaned and secured at the end of the day, and the job was finished on time. We had to have a concrete side patio broken up in order to get to the broken pipe, and Green Planet repaved the patio to look way better than the original ever did.

They were affordable, and great to work with.

In contrast to the the review above, I would NOT recommend using Green Planet Plumbing and personally will not be using them again. Paid $800 for 3 hours of labor — pretty much undermines any trust or confidence that I would like to attribute to a contractor or vendor and the bids they make.

There was an “accepted” bid, so I shook my head, grumbled and paid it. When I accepted the bid via e-mail and asked them to schedule the work with the spouse, they never did respond to my request for justification of why it costs an additional $500 to set a shower pan in a drain they just moved a couple inches. And after the work was done I made a second written request to question the bid and the charges. Again, they did not bother responding.

I was more than satisfied when I used O’Neill Plumbing in the 90’s. And after the change of ownership, I can attest that the new owner also stood behind his work and billing. So this experience with Green Planet was very disappointing. What I really hope for is an experience and business relationship like I have with Doyle’s Automotive where there is trust that they are doing the right thing, not misleading you, and not gouging you. That is not what I encountered — they couldn’t bother to respond. I won’t make that mistake again.
