All of the photographs that I submit to the front page are pre-sized to 450 pixels because that is what Tracy said she prefers. But I posted a photo to the Forums the other day and noticed that, at 450 pixels, there still seems to be space leftover.

Here’s a 500 pixel wide image (of driving through Christmas lights on 5th Avenue downtown) and it seems to fit just fine with room to spare.

note: you can also edit a pic after the fact by renaming the one you used and naming the edited or resized pic to the original name.

I resized the Dali picture up thread. ( The Invisible Bust of Voltaire) to a width of 500 pixels.

That’s my car but I wasn’t driving. I was in the backseat hand-holding the camera. I think I might try it again with the top down and a wider-angle lens.

Rad. That explains how you overcame the problem of taking photos from the backseat while driving.

Speaking of top-down, I shot this standing out the sunroof (also not while driving!) last sunday when it was all foggy. Not as dazzling, and my lens was getting wet.

If you wanna see more of Christopher’s work, head to Ama Ama Thursday evening during Art Walk…his photos will be all over the place :)

Yes, we’d rather have 450 because that looks better on the home page. But given that under the current formatting the photo comes within the blue shading I guess you can go ahead with 500 and the world won’t come to an end, especially since for example that’s one of the templated sizes for flickr and I would imagine other hosting services. Just please don’t let it slop past there into the sidebar.
