roundthesoundParticipantI have to say I love Than Bros. I eat there typically more than once a week and I’ve never seen a roach but it’s not shocking that you would find roaches in any restaurant. I frequent Than Bros specifically because they are the only pho place that I have found that offers a vegetarian broth. Does anyone know of another pho place that has something other than beef broth?

TraciMemberRTS, I only eat vegetarian broth pho as well. Lots of places (maybe even all) on Capitol Hill have it, as well as that place in Ballard. MMM they put carrots, leeks, bok choy, etc in it too. It’s great.
Locally I haven’t looked much past Than to be honest.

BigRedMemberroundthesound- I agree that you might find roaches in alot of restaurants, but out in the middle of the day when lots of people are around? To me that means there is a MUCH bigger problem. What happens at night? I shudder to think…
I have had veggie broth at many other pho places, look around

guidosmomMemberroundthesound, a lot of places have veggie pho. I only eat it as well. I have noticed some places call chicken broth pho “veggie pho”, because it doesn’t contain chunks of meat and has veggies. I always ask now. Here’s a list of vegetarian pho places and reviews in and around West Seattle (some further):

dhgParticipantI’m not sure it’s still veggie if it’s cockroach-flavored. You might think the bugs are in every restaurant but that is simply not true. There are very clean kitchens out there and it is very important to demand that ALL kitchens be cockroach-free.

westseattlemanMemberI was there today and the coachroach problem was bad. There was one crawling in plain sight right next to me. I told the waiter and just shrugged his shoulders and left. He then came back out with another guy and pointed at the roach, then they both went back in the kitchen. My food was then brought out. I waited about 2 more minutes and then went in the kitchen to ask someone to please come and take care of it, which they did. THEN, as I was eating, I saw 3 more crawling on the walls. At that point, the person I was with was so disgusted we got up and left, along with another person who was eating at a table about 3 tables away from us. That was on top of the people who had just left who told us they had to kill one themselves. Than Brothers has decent pho, nothing to write home about, but it IS cheap and the only one in the area. But, this is my 2nd time with cockroaches there, so I guarantee you I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. EVER. If other places have roaches, at least I don’t see them.
