Rod ClarkMemberThere’s something interesting going on in the wake of today’s Seattle Times’ story, “Financial Scandal Hits Seattle Schools.”
In comments on the story about this over at the Seattle Public Schools Community Blog, people have been spontaneously expressing support for Phil Brockman as Seattle’s next school superintendent.
Years ago, when I substituted for a little while at West Seattle High, I was enormously impressed with Brockman, and believe that if enough people support this the entire school district would benefit.

JanSParticipantI remember when Phil Brockman was asst. principal at Madison Middle School. He was fair with the kids, and they went to him before they ever went to the principal at the time. I know he handled a situation with my daughter kindly. Is he officially running? Or are you looking to recruit?

DPMemberGulp!
It’s getting harder and harder to defend our School Board and District administrators.
Apparently the “Save Seattle Schools” crew have been right about the District’s lax accounting and oversight, though I must say I don’t care for the way they’ve presented some of their arguments.

My personal share of school funding for tax year 2011 (according to the latest property tax bill): $1,500.
That’s enough moolah for me to care very much about how it’s being spent. Or misspent, as the case may be.
Thanks for the post, Roderick.
