“I purposefully won’t get it and here is why. WMD’s.”

In other words, a complete non-sequiter that has nothing to do with the current situation. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. (not) Real right wing logic on display there.

“Sorry, I would rather fight Terrorists than Global Warming.”

Actually, you would rather let other people go fight terrorists while you make absurd comparisons. More bizarro logic. I don’t know you personally, but I’m guessing you don’t fight terrorists. Correct me if I’m wrong.

    rich:

Yeah, Climate Change may be real (although natural or man made) but Terrorists cause more damage now.

you’re comparing apples and oranges, dude. of course suicide bombers don’t cause emphysema or spikes in asthma among children. duh!

where does this sneering contempt for “environmentalism” come from, anyway?

are you so cynical about america that you believe we can’t both fight terrorism (whatever the hell that means) and reduce carbon emissions? as if one is extremely vital to the world’s security but the other isn’t? why is it one or the other?

what’s the message to your kid, then?

“Well, kid, we did it. We paid down the debt so you don’t have to pay high taxes, and we killed tens of thousands of people on the other side of the planet so you can feel comfortable watching NFL Sunday Ticket.

“But, uhh… couple things you might want to watch out for. See that pipeline over there? Don’t go near it! It causes cancer. And don’t order the catfish. And we’re sorry about that leaky nuke plant. And the dirty beach lapping up on the shores of Second Avenue downtown. And the copper-colored air. And all of the people starving in Mexico.

“Hey, look! It’s a box of Twinkies! Those things should last you a lifetime!

“Good luck, and don’t forget the sunscreen!”

here’s a clue: the way to fight “terrorism” isn’t with guns and bombs. see, it’s a socioeconomic thing. as a matter of fact, the sooner we wean ourselves from oil, the sooner we can be shut of OPEC and the rest of those clowns.

anyway, let’s get back to the facts.

from the christian science monitor article linked above:

But it’s certainly true that US embassy security is under strain around the world. Foreign nationals increasingly replace US citizens in everything from visa offices to security details. The new consulate in Benghazi, just over a year old, would have been particularly top-heavy with US nationals to start. Some reduction in US staffing was inevitable.

After I wrote a piece earlier this week about the political gain being sought from the deaths of Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi, a number of diplomatic acquaintances of mine emailed to say I should have looked at the State Department’s security budget. Two of them had unprintable things to say about Congress.

Who can be blamed for that? Well, Chaffetz and Issa among others.

Since retaking control in 2010, House Republicans have aggressively cut spending at the State Department in general and embassy security in particular. Chaffetz and Issa and their colleagues voted to pay for far less security than the State Department requested in 2011 and again this year.

“and again this year…” hmm. i wonder if house republicans will ignore state department requests going forward. if they do, they may have more blood on their hands.

so why do you continue to blame the administration? saying that obama cut state department security in favor of greening embassies in europe is simply ignorant of the facts. and frankly, you’re sounding a bit petulant in your ignorance. grow up and admit that this is the cost of austerity. and quit listening to that right wing echo chamber. those guys could look god square in the eye and tell a lie – if it made them a few more bucks.

and, yeah, i still have a bunch of alice cooper vinyl (and tapes) but i didn’t see him in concert.

It never ceases to amaze me, that those that harp on about the “debt we’re leaving our children/grandchildren”, seem to have no problem leaving them with a planet that could be much more poisoned than it is now…

Well, if the quaterback wasn’t using Benghazi… it would never have been put in play… Now.. the Messiah, who must protect and defend his women…. he should answer.. if she had nothing to do with it….and she had bad information… why did you trot her out on 5 friendly networks to give the same bullshit line? You sent an ignorant of the facts spokesperson to brief the American public? Your UN Ambassador is kept out of the loop? How comforting.

Do you really think playing political football with our national security is a good idea?

NO…. but Obama will do it… ask Seal Team 6 … and the access to covert methods given to his Hollywood “peeps” to make their Obama tribute. Benghazi was political spin… it interfered with his “I killed Obama and destroyed Al Quaida…” sure ya did buddy… they are re-constituted in Iraq, have new training bases in Libya, run free in Somalia, Yemen, and his new buddy in Egypt is allowing Hamas to bring in rockets through Gaza….. not a few of them.. not a few hundred… thousands of them. Allows munition ships from Iran to offload and overland through Yemen…. Hosni didn’t do that. Oh, hell no.

    Well let’s see….

    http://blog.heritage.org/2012/10/11/libya-security-lapse-the-budget-for-embassy-security-is-not-responsible/

And IF that was the case… why did we open a consulate if we didn’t have the security to protect it? Hmmm? The Brits left… the UN left… it’s not ONE failure.. three attacks preceded the final one in Benghazi….. flub a dub dub… Ambassador Stevens even cabled the Dept of State.. the “hired militia” guards were taking intelligence pictures… two weeks before the attack. This was as predicatable as rain as the RSO reported… three probe attacks to check response and when none was forthcoming… they timed it for 9-11….. no surprise. Stevens and three volunteers died for political football as played in this administration.

I knew there were gonna be some real sad wingnuts around here when President Barack Obama was re-elected. It’s going to take time for them to come to grips with the sound a**kicking they received (lost White House, seats in Senate, seats in House)and they’re going to lash out for awhile with everything they’ve got to pin some fantasy scandal on a guy that they just can’t seem to get. 4 years out,2 billion bucks worth of mudslinging, and he’s more popular and respected worldwide (and by our military) than any prez in recent memory. I guess it must sting a little.

kootch, since you claim to have such a dislike for Obama, or at least his policies, why do you consider him a Messiah?

(Does that fall under the definition of cognitive dissonance?)

So true. And yet, so . . . situational.

Here, Democrats are the dour ones. (Sorry, folks. No time for giggles. We’re saving the planet.)

In Flyover Country, it’s the Republicans whose funny bones are all busted.

I suspect it’s a power thingy. See, people who are tasked with saving the planet have a lot of responsiblity on their shoulders. The last thing they need is some joker making them feel even more vulnerable and insecure than they already do.

    So no teasing, please!

    (Or we’ll kill you.)

    HMCRich..

    the West Seattle Bubble?

you did see the election results, didn’t you?

if not for gerrymandering Republicans wouldn’t have even retained the house.

The actual vote count in the state’s that republicans carried their House seats favored the democrats… redistricting is the only thing that saved their red little behinds…

what? I have no sense of humor? After the last two months, I would say a sense of humor is a necessity.

So, if I put up with Republican sour grapes, insults and innuendos, my sense of humor would be more visible? Typical..it’s only OK if we just go along with whatever Repubs want/say…sheesh !

Perhaps the most misunderstood figure of our time is Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. Liquidating the class enemy isn’t easy, you know. Especially when he comprises some 95% of the population.

Fortunately, Uncle Joe never lost his sense of fun or his flair for the practical joke. One of his favorite tricks was to call some high-level Party member into his office and make a silly face at him. Like this:

If the guy laughed, he would be executed for treason.

If the guy didn’t laugh, he would be executed for insubordination.

As we know Comrade Stalin was a busy man, and this hilarious prank had the added benefit of helping him decide who among the Communist Party leadership needed to be purged.

    Which was pretty much everyone.

DBP, Do you think Stalin and Mao told each other jokes? I think Uncle Joe would have been jealous of Mao.

Actually with over 100 million dead between both of them, my funny bone turned into a sad bone.

But I did give my dog a bison bone today. At least she is happy.

I like your humor DBP. Some don’t get mine, nor want to. So be it.

Yes, Mao and Stalin were pals, but much was lost in translation. Upon coming to power in 1949, Chairman Mao sent the following telegram to the Soviet leader:

People starving [stop] Need help [stop] Please send supplies

Next day came a reply from Comrade Joe:

Things are tough all over [stop] Tighten your belts

There was a pause in communication, and then came another telegram from Mao:

      Please send belts

rich: sometimes it’s hard to tell if you’re attempting to be funny, or if you really believe some of the crap that you post.

maybe you should clarify which is which. then i’ll know when it’s safe to engage you in a serious discussion.
