Periodic thud noises/shaking in Youngstown area?

Hey there!

I moved to the Youngstown area about 3 months ago, and I’ve noticed that there is some periodic thud noises/shaking in my house. It is a single thud, typically happening every 30 seconds to a minute. It usually happens at around 1:30pm, and lasts for about 30 minutes at a time.

I feel like I can hear a thud far away. Could it be something happening at Nucor Steel? After searching around I found some articles (including one on West Seattle Blog) which states that occasionally there are some loud noises coming from there. I’ve been experiencing this for a couple weeks now, though, so I feel like it could be something else.

Does anybody have an idea of what could be causing this? Has anybody else been noticing this? I don’t think I would have noticed if I weren’t working from home all the time. :)

Call Nucor and talk to them. I’m told they are quite receptive, as staying in the community’s good graces is always a plus.

I live in Youngstown too and have been noticing the same thing over the last 6-7 days. Its definitely new (was working from home before all of this) so could it be bridge construction? I’m mainly noticing the shakes/major thuds between 10a-3p
