FoxyDiamondMemberI would like to hear YOUR experience with having had your pup go through this procedure. I LOVE my vet…Hey Travis! I just want to know what to expect. Sniff.
ok, slightly curious about pricing.

inactiveMemberHey – Travis is great.
My dog never had to
Not inexpensive at the clinic I think you are taking the pup to, if Travis is still there.
Anesthesia and labwork aren’t cheap, but maybe this is part of regular dental cleaning procedure? Some clinics, if not many, put some dogs asleep to clean the tartar as a matter of routine. Pulling a tooth that is decayed during such a common procedure is fairly common and isn’t too big of a
deal for the pupsters. They bounce back from the anesthetic quickly and are good to go. But anytime anesthetic is administered, there are certain risks -not huge though. That’s part of the reason they will probably do lab work before – to reduce risk.
I would not worry. Travis is a fine veterinarian. I’d worry more about the $$ ;).

service dog academyMemberliame – my yellow lab service dog slab fractured both of his 4th premolars (the largest teeth). $970 for the extractions, $80 for the initial consult with the doggie dentist and $55 for the initial diagnosis from my original vet. holy hell. because of this experience i will never recommend a hard indestructible nylabone to a dog owner.

inactiveMemberI’ve just been researching dog insurance. I have another few months before the Dood is too old to qualify. I would rather pay the premiums now, hoping that and even if, he never needs it…

thansenMemberI had to take my cat to the West Seattle Vet at Jeff Sq to get some teeth pulled. They were awesome, took great care of her and answered all my silly questions and then all my follow up questions.

FoxyDiamondMemberThanks everyone for sharing your experiences, glad there is so much love out there for Travis! He is a super vet and a great person as well! He helped me tremendously when it was time for nearly 17yr old soul mutt, Tess, needed to leave this world & has also been very generous in helping with much needed supplies for a dog rescue I work with in Mexico!
Looks like I just need to start saving, perhaps a yard sale may be in my future, coffee themed gift baskets anyone??? I am less afraid knowing they bounce back quickly, thanks Dood!! Maybe some of MY dental phobia is surfacing! I wish my dentist could do it, I am crazy about Billy Raleigh!
Also thanks for the recommendation on South Seattle Vet. I could never leave Travis. I did see something that kinda miffed me about SSV in a coupon pack that came around a few times, they offered a “special” on cat declawing, although, I do not live with any kitty’s I think declawing is a cruel & completely unnecessary procedure. I contacted the vet office & voiced my opinion & I haven’t seen that “special” offered again. I am certain most vets will preform this operation, but to encourage it through a discount is quite another thing.
Travis at West Seattle Animal Hospital also offers a free first time visit. Nesa Qunicey is also a very loving vet at that hospital!
Thanks again, pup parents!
