Sorry for the repost, can’t find my original. We are hoping to move to Seattle in the next 6 months. We have an interest in the High Point Community would someone be willing to give me the pros and cons about the area? We have 2 special needs kids, living in southern california is literally killing them. They need the cooler climate to stay alive. Thank you.

I don’t know anything about the High Point area, but West Seattle in general is a great pick. Welcome aboard.

My family has lived in the High Point community since 2007 and we really enjoy living here. One con it that there really is no retail space to walk to except for the businesses around 35th and Morgan and the library. But you’re a short walk to Camp Long and there are lots of little parks in the neighborhood. We walk with our daughter around the neighborhood often; to the parks, the library, the p-patch and market gardens, the pond. Like I said earlier, we really enjoy living here.

We live near High Point. It’s a very culturally and economically diverse community. Most of the housing is pretty dense, placed close together, but there is a fair amount of community green space, and a couple of parks fairly close by. There is a community center, library, medical offices and elementary school. There is a drugstore (Walgreens), a Pizza Hut and a convenience store within walking distance, but no other retail or businesses to speak of. Everything else you have to drive to. I can’t speak to the quality of schools, not having any school-age children.

I will agree with elikapeka about High Point and it being VERY culturally and economically diverse. Not that thats a bad thing for everyone.

Good to do research. We wanted to move to HP a few years ago, the appeal of the newer homes and pricing were great. There seem to be some really great, picture perfect areas of HP, then one street over the complete opposite. I guess its that way anywhere.

I drive through HP everyday now to access the freeway and I have to say I am more than glad that we moved further west. The middle school that we now are in the bounderies of is Madison Middle School, which we really enjoy. I would say, with my minimal experience:

    Pros:

    Lower house pricing

    Cons:

    Lower house pricing

Close to 35th and one of the least desirable intersections in WS

    Welcome to WS :)

Im so new that it still feels funny to say that myself.
