ToddinWestwoodMemberThere is a three day event this weekend called Maximum RPM. It is a benefit for the Cretins M.C. “fallen Rider fund” where they take the money from the weekend’s events and donate it to a local rider who has crashed or been hit to help out with expenses.
Thurs night will kick things off with a rock and roll show at Hooverville Bar,1721 first ave south, with the poppy punk stylings of Tennis Pro and then the local rockabilly favs, The Hard Money Saints. There will be motorcycle/scooter parking only out front.
Friday evening, get your high heeled sneakers out and your wighat on your head, ’cause there will be a party at the Cretins Clubhouse. 3600 E. Marginal Way. There will be movies on the bigscreen and rotating DJs. If you partake in too many libations, you can leave your bike locked up at the building overnight. There will be cab/town car service available.
Saturday, shake off that hangover and ride! Meet at the clubhouse at noon and ride leaves 1pm.

after reading this, you may wonder who the Cretins MC are. The Cretins MC is a club dedicated to the riding and enjoyment of vintage cafe racers/ratbikes and streetfighters. http://www.cretins.org/

JanSParticipantI just love the name Hooverville Bar…do you think that many on here even know that we had a “Hooverville” in that area? Hope it’s a great weekend for ya, Todd..

charlabobParticipantYou gotta love a motorcycle club that calls itself the Cretins.
I dated a biker back east for a *very short* while who didn’t know how to spell his last name. (I wanted to send his mother a birthday card, made the mistake of asking how you spell “la=peen” as he pronounced it and he had no idea. His “first name” was dopey — I wound up leaving the card on her front porch with her first name on it :-) Which was something normal, like Linda.

ToddinWestwoodMemberJan…if I am not mistaken, and I am most of the time, that Seattle’s Hooverville might have been the first in the country.
Wiki Hooverville sometime, its a neat history.

AnonymousInactivecharla – You’ve got to be kidding me!!! That is one of the funniest things I’ve heard in awhile!
Bikers have fun and be safe!

charlabobParticipantNR, I wish I were kidding — In Lowell., Ma (and other Franco-American cities in the east) there were bunches of people with French names who weren’t sure how to spell or pronounce them. My favorite (obviously) was Dopey Lupine (la-peen).
My second favorite, whom I found when I was doing phone canvassing for repug senator Ed Brooke, was the Desrochers — the whole tribe had no idea who “Da-ro-shay” (best I can simulate Fr. here) was. They were, and will always be, the DEZ ROACH ERS — accent on roach.
I guess, if you’re not going to know how to spell your last name, it’s good that your first name is Dopey.

ToddinWestwoodMemberwell ummm, the first wed. of the month (tonight) the Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts, http://vme.micapeak.com/ get together down in Georgetown at the old Uncle Moe’s, now called Planet Georgetown for a bike show and shine. Just got back from there. Good showing, lots of British and Italian rides. I rode down a 1972 Yamaha XS-2 650 that is all cafe’d out.

JeraldParticipantWow, Charlabob, the now-infamous Ed Brooke? Was Barbara Walters hanging around?
May 9, 2008 at 1:46 pm #623990
charlabobParticipantYup, Jerald, the very same — proves I was, in fact, bipartisan at one point, that Republicans used to be reasonable, and that I’m very old (even though I was a mere child when I worked for the Brooke campaign). He was known then as a flirt. (Was that a more innocent time, or what?)

RickBMemberHey Todd,
I just moved in to my house down in White Center, ride a bike (1982 Yamaha XJ650RJ Seca), and would love to hang out with you guys. Unfortunately, I’m busy killing ants this weekend, but maybe in coming weeks?
