    who can ever decipher the wily mind of carl rove.. maybe he is a rat jumping from a ship he thinks is sinking…

    maybe he wants us to think that so he can plan his next attack.

    One of the most powerful writers of a new generation called it quits Friday. David Foster Wallace is a powerful force in literature and nonfiction.

    In 2000 he spent a week on the bus and wrote this about McCain, for Rolling Stone. Among other things, it tells us something about how different McCain is now, and how much he stays the same. NB, the article is long and self-indulgent and riveting; I’m posting for the politics junkies and for the fans of literature, who are still in mourning.

    RainyDay, I read the Times article by Westneat too and thought it pretty revealing…he pretty much says what everyone has said of the McCain of yore and the McCain of today.
