i think he took himself off elsewhere..

if you want to know if someone took themselves off or were removed for repeatedly violating rules, put their moniker in the search bar.

if they have been removed, they become anonymous.

of course, you may have to wade through a couple of pages of posts where someone else mentioned their name before you come to theirs..

but if you care enough to invest in the effort, a little diligence will soon give you the answer.

It does seem as though a number of folks have gone away doesn’t it?

People get tired of expressing their viewpoint if it happens to be contrary to the “loud and incessant” posters who refuse to accept an opposing viewpoint without arguing and insisting on getting the final post. (Nickelsville, Zimmerman, coyotes, bicycling etc)

I read occasionally to keep up on WS news but I have left as far as contributing, commenting, etc..

    Also agree with rico.

This forum has self-appointed monitors who seem to think the longer their post, or the more posts they make will actually make someone change their viewpoint.

I’m not here to change minds but have a conversation, maybe enlighten others, and to learn from others. I’ve seriously cut down my interactions on the WSB forum due to those who seem to camp out here and are willing to shout down those who disagree with them.

I agree with Rico, WF, and JimmyG.

It just got to feeling like posting was treading on a couple other’s presumed ‘on-line territory’.

ya know…if we – and I mean all of us, including Rico, WF, JimmyG, rats in a cage, if we don’t express what we believe, and just go along with opposing views, then what does that make us? There will always be opposing views, no matter where you are.

If we all believed the same thing, how boring would life be.

And to suggest that anyone on here has some kind of power on these forums or over the editor/monitor of these forums, is insulting to the editor of this “blog” and forum.

Hey JanS, ever heard of the concept of accepting that an opposing view is valid (eventhough one disagrees with it) without having to tell the person they are wrong.

well, that goes for you, too…do you ever accept an opposing view as valid? If someone doesn’t agree with you, what should they do? Shut up and go away? I’m not here to convince you to come over to “my side”. Just here to state what I feel/believe. All of this goes both ways…have you ever considered that?

We are all entitled to our opinions…I don’t tell people they’re wrong. But if I disagree, it’s not a reason to be made fun of, or be cut down, like what happens on other “blogs”/forums…and it’s never a reason to be disrespectful of anyone….

if everyone had the same viewpoint life would be boring.

there are many of us old school folks that believe in individual responsibility and it is not the governments role to bail people out when they make bad decisions or have failed to save for a rainy day.

when i grew up if i did not do my chores i went hungry.

look at what seattle has done.

they defunded libraries – now we have to pay a levy for this basic service. ditto for infrastructure maintenance. these are services that are basic and need to be paid for by the general fund NOT LEVIES.

JimmyG..because I don’t agree with your premise, you have to be snarky? I’m so sorry I intruded on your lovely little thread cutting people down.

WF…do you honestly think that I wouldn’t trade being able to work, and have a steady income for the health issues that I’ve had? Do you honestly feel that we planned these things, that I didn’t save for a rainy day, etc.etc.? That I made bad decisions? Crap happens, and the money runs out. You do the best you can. But do you honestly think that I’ve enjoyed open heart surgery, dialysis 3X a week for hours on end, etc? That I enjoyed chemo for months when I was dx with cancer? Seriously?

You moan and groan like I’m somehow taking food out of your mouth. I respectfully disagree with you about people just wanting a handout, and get used to having others pay for their ability to get through life. I’m damned lucky I’m still alive, and someone was generous enough to donate a kidney to me that will give me a second chance at a good life. I am grateful for any help I received, and don’t expect that to go on forever. Thank your lucky stars it didn’t happen to you!

JanS, with all due respect, the WSB and you have reminded us all over and over that the forums are a place to debate and discuss. We can disagree with each others opinions and beliefs, but cannot put the actual person down. In other words, not judge the person, just the person’s actions/opinions/beliefs. In a perfect world, we would all abide, however we are all guilty of violating that rule, including yourself. See post #2 at https://westseattleblog.com/2013/03/west-seattle-and-vicinity-crime-watch-alan-polevia-in-jail#comments.

I think it would go a long way if those that post with a “do as I say, not as I do” vibe would occasionally admit that they, too, break their own, and the WSB, rules…and get away with it.

I am troubled by the direction this conversation has taken.

I think i am one of those that some people would think park on the blog and don’t respect other people’s arguments…

yet, i have to wonder just what it would take for those who complain the most about my posts to think they were respected?

Lets use Coyotes as an example.

Would i have to agree that you should be able to go hunt them down at will because they they seize opportunity when it is given to them for you to feel respected?

    I don’t think so.

The complainers certainly wouldn’t show me the same courtesy…

in fact i have been called some pretty nasty names for nothing more than appealing to the community for common courtesy and basic assistance for people in need.

do you really think that calling me names is going to change my desire to help those who need help? Probably not.

it does hurt my feelings, especially when those with the nastiest remarks are people who have benefited from my generosity… but it still isn’t going to change who i am or how i choose to live in the world.

the real irony here is that those with the least tolerance for the opinions of others are those who complain the most about the lack of respect shown by others.

is expecting more of someone than you expect of yourself and kicking them when they are down your idea of the kind of courtesy you expect?

yes, guess what, Bearschick…I am not perfect. You have to admit, what I said in that comment was true. Be that as it may, I find it a bit alarming that people search long gone posts so you can point out the shortcomings of others….just as you made it personal about me…

having said that…come out to our garden party this Saturday…we want to meet others on here, and put faces with names. Yes, it’s a fundraiser of sorts to help me get through the summer, as I can’t work because of my kidney transplant. But..you don’t have to donate anything (well, maybe an appetizer for the table – lol)…just come out and meet others in person…we’d love to see you there…
