IrukandjiParticipantI’ve started a meet-up group for local kids who like to play Minecraft and for the parents of those obsessed children. I’d like to add a ‘mentor’ to our group, perhaps a high school student who knows the popular YouTubers, how to install mods, one who would enjoy leading projects.
Appropriate compensation is up for discussion since we are not a ‘real’ employer: something akin to an hourly plus coffee. Maybe this can be part of a community service project as we grow this group.
You will never be left to manage the kids, just be the one in the group who is WAY cooler than the parents. The kids range in age from 7-12.
As the West Seattle MineCrew, it’s our goal to help kids learn online etiquette through play, so leading by example is significant: we use family friendly servers and I’ve established a Realm just for our group.

HMC RichParticipantThat is soooo cool. My little guy loves Minecraft but can’t handle it emotionally when it is time to quit. Hopefully he will get past that issue and be able to join the group.

karenParticipantThis is something that my Minecraft obsessed kid would love to do. He helped start a Minecraft club at Denny and love to play, listen to the podcast and adds mods all the time. how can he reach you?

IrukandjiParticipantHMC Rich: We know well those Minecraft tears. A couple years and some some extra play venues have made a difference. We aren’t wholly beyond feeling the pain, but now it’s mostly APPROPRIATE upset, not just time-sensitive.
