Liquor Stores (Junction, Westwood Village, White Center) are usually a pretty good source of boxes.

They’re not the largest, but are very sturdy.

One other thing to note is the tops are usually cut open along three sides, leaving the flaps intact with each other, and effectively creating a “hinge” on the uncut side.

So, in other words, the lids could still be taped down, but the flaps can’t simply be interlocked.

If no one has them here, Freecycle Seattle is a great source if you’ve never used it – I see moving boxes all the time and plenty of WS folks there too!

I always suggest grocery stores. When we moved we asked Safeway and QFC produce managers at Jefferson Square to save us thier boxes. They both did and those boxes are great easy to stack, they have lids and are sturdy. Just ask them what days are delivery days. Plus this is a great way to help recycle and save money :)
