cjboffoliParticipantWill require some serious cents.

flowerpetalMemberAnd some serious sense too. Its disappointing that McGinn would include in his campaign such an unformed idea.

KBearParticipantHow about a station at Alaska & Fauntleroy? It could even have underground parking.

JenVMemberROFL@ KBear…you say that like you don’t believe Hole Foods will ever be built!
Seriously, it’s way past time we start following Portland’s example. Their transit is nothing short of amazing.

villagegreenMemberFloating the idea of light-rail to West Seattle is simply a ploy to get voters to vote for him that are currently in favor of the tunnel. Yes, there should be a light-rail line for the west side of the city, but West Seattle will be decades away from seeing any public transit improvements other than bus service (the monorail was our only chance). It’s just too expensive to build the necessary bridge over the Duwamish (whereas the monorail could have used the current bridge).
Portland transit is great; more light-rail is great; but McGinn certainly isn’t going to do anything for West Seattle. It’s just politics at this point.

JoBParticipantvillgegreen..
it makes me really sad to have to agree with you.
i wish i thought his stance on the tunnel was just a political ploy. it would make it easier to vote for him.

maplesyrupParticipantRail here would be sweet.
But it looks like an empty promise and in any case would likely be at the expense of the tunnel.
Like it or not, now that a decision on the tunnel has been made I just want to move forward with it.

flowerpetalMemberWhat? A decision made and then move forward with it? ;~)
How unSeattle is that?
Decisions seem to never be made and moved forward without half a dozen different hitches.

JenVMemberI am not 100% behind McGinn. I just really want light rail here, and I am naive enough I guess to believe it when someone floats the idea.
I agree the tunnel will be built no matter what McGinn has to say – I am not a fan of the tunnel, but realize there is nothing that can be done about it. I will miss the viaduct, but not the sheer terror of being on it stuck in traffic wondering if this is the day the earthquake will hit…

KBearParticipantI think McGinn will lose his tunnel battle if he’s elected mayor, but at what cost?

JanSParticipantflowerpetal…I just had a brief moment where I thought you said..” Decisions seem to never be made and moved forward without half a dozen different BITCHES”. lolol…
