lame pigeon

I have a wounded pigeon hobbling around my yard not sure what to do or who to call…my daughter is very traumatized by this as you can see the wounded leg…if I were rich maybe I would take it to the vet but…Anyone know what to do??

I had a wounded pigeon at my work in Kent. I captured him and placed him in a nice sized box for transport to the Sarvey Wildlife Center drop-off point in Renton (at the Renton Veterinary Hospital – very nice people). Here’s the center’s website. It has a lot of info: http://www.sarveywildlife.org/Content.aspx?id=168 I checked in on him the next day and they told me he was going to be fine. Not sure what his ailment was though. Good luck!

If they can’t help, I would also suggest asking the Seattle Animal Shelter what their policies are. The SAS website says that in the case of injured or sick animals, you can’t report them online but need to instead call:

(206) 386-PETS.
