Betty TMemberWeird! I saw them recently, 3-4, at the lower corner seams of my metal window frame! Inside. I killed them and have seen no others recently. Maybe luck. I wodered if came from inside the frame? Since then only saw the one crawling up outer edge of frame of computer screen.
They like electricity? I have plug-in bug zapper that works through the wiring.

boat blissMemberI don’t know why I read of complains. This industrious little work force cleans my house and silently too. The reason they have moved in is due to the opportunity I create. Perhaps a speck of food was complacently allowed to fall to the floor; not a problem with these timely observers on the job.

RamboPestParticipantHow interesting that our company’s ad appears parallel on this page with my reply! There is a lot of info (some correct, some not so much) in the preceeding replies, so I’ll keep this brief. The first step is to identify the species you are dealing with. Control strategies vary greatly. If you are dealing with Odorous House Ants do not spray them with anything. That means raid, simple green, 409, home defense, windex or anything else that your neighbor’s uncle told you worked for him. My advice would be to use bait. Terro is okay but not the best. If that’s your only option I would recommend that you water it down at least 1 to 1. Terro has a 5% active ingredient percentage which often doesn’t allow for the ants to make it all the way back to the nest before they die. There is a lot of other information that I am happy to provide so feel free to call anytime. Check out our ad on the coupons page. -Luke Rambo, Rambo Total Pest Control, (866)540-7262.

istupkaMemberHa! I just moved here and I SO have these ants! I’m hoping for chickens as the solution! I have ised toothpaste in the entry hole with ants before, so I’m thinking the peppermint oil is something relevant.

Jan RoseMemberI talked to Luke, owner of Rambo Total Pest Control and learned that the process they employ is baiting inside so the ants track the “product” (commercial grade clear gel, or goop) back to the nests within the walls, floors, ceilings or other possible nest sites such as alarm clocks and computers. Luke says trophyllaxis is the process of regurgitating the food and moisture back up for their nestmates and that’s what they do. This modern bait allows the Pros to avoid spraying inside altogether because the ants are doing most of the legwork. The stuff Rambo Total uses is actually classified as “reduced risk” by the EPA because the active ingredient reacts with enzymes that ants have in large proportions and mammals don’t have. On the outside they use a “non-repellent, transferable” product around the foundation which allows the ants to cross the barrier without triggering the ants chemical sensitivities and they pick up some of the product on their bodies which is transferred to other ants through social contact. (geez are ants into social networking?) Luke’s company returns if the ants are still active after two weeks and then again for monthly prevention services for the first two months, then they switch to quarterly prevention services. If the ants show up in-between scheduled services they will come by for no charge to take care of it. I have heard from my neighbors that Luke at Rambo Total Pest Control took care of their ant problem. Maybe their ants moved to my house. I think I will call Luke!( Luke Rambo, Rambo Total Pest Control, (866)540-7262)
