    Is it safe to walk around in Schmitz park? (for ladies and kids)

    You might see a homeless encampment or be charged by an off-leash dog tearing up carefully restored native plants. (And the dog probably belongs to a wealthy neighborhood resident who complains about the homeless trashing “his” park while voting against any candidate or tax that might devote money toward solving the problem.) Other than that, it’s perfectly safe.

    I haven’t seen evidence of the off-leash dog or of campers — at least recently. Neither would completely surprise me, but I’ve walked the Schmitz trails at least every few weeks for many years now. I also have never heard of anyone, male or female, young or old, being accosted there. If anyone has been harassed or discomfited while in Schmitz Park I would like to hear about it. (Note: I’m male)
