PatriciaBMemberHi,
It’s that time of year. I can see and smell autumn everywhere.
We are in need of a cord of seasoned firewood. We would need it delivered. I am looking to purchase this on or after the 1st of October. I am in the Admiral Way district.
Thank you,
PatriciaB

mellaw6565MemberThere’s a lot of good ads in little nickel and the classifieds this time of year for cord wood. Just make sure that it’s well-seasoned. I think there are some pretty specific advertising rules for these folks as to giving a full description of what they are delivering.

sldMemberWe just got a cord from Pastor Joe Turner at Shorewood Foursquare Church in West Seattle. The wood was great, probably more than a cord. The firewood is burning well. He had one cord left after he delivered ours.

ellenaterMemberhow much was it (if you don’t mind me asking)?
Also, is it possible to get less than a cord?

sldMemberIt was $300, which included delivery and they even brought a bunch of buckets and helped us haul it up 37 stairs! We insisted on paying a little extra for that because it was an extremely hard job and they all did it without complaint. The pastor even stacked it and cut pieces of cardboard to put behind it to protect the house. They should be in the rave section, I guess.
They had it stacked in the trailer, which is important in order to truly get the right amount. We had several others we called say that they just throw it in the back of their truck.

ellenaterMemberThat sounds great. Thanks for the info. sld. Do you have contact info. for them? It DOES sound like they belong in the raves.
mmmm… fires :)

LindyMemberDoes anyone know where to get unseasoned wood in the summer? I need it delivered, but I can season it myself because my yard is big enough. I have read over and over to buy wood in the spring/summer to get a good deal.

DianaParticipantArborists often have wood to sell. Stonehedge Tree Experts is an advertiser and West Seattle business and I’ve purchased wood from them in the past. If you can season it and split it this could be a good way to go. If you need wood be sure of the source…in hard economic times illegal cutting occurs in our forests so be sure you’re dealing with someone licensed to sell.
