timeslidParticipantHome Depot does reward their CEOs well however. Their compensation must be based on merit by the comments listed above.
CHICAGO (MarketWatch) — Robert Nardelli, the former chief executive of Home Depot Inc., received compensation valued at $131.2 million in 2006, according to a proxy filed late Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

CharlesDarwinParticipantI don’t disagree with the general sentiment on this thread, but I will say that there are some shining stars at the Delridge HD. A wonderful man named Edward runs the free kids project every 1st Saturday of the month. He’s always in a wonderful mood and ensures that the kids have a great time.

LooMemberI completely agree, but have to say that I’ve had trouble with every Home Depot in the region – from Bellevue to Tukwila, and even with the online folks. My husband and I tried to buy a 10×8 rug that ended up taking 2 months and MANY hours of legwork to get.
They had it hanging in the store, but we were told we could only order it through a catalog. Then we were told we could only order it online. Then we tried to use a $100 gift card online to purchase it….nobody could ever figure out how to make that work (and my husband is a manager for Amazon, so it’s not like we usually have trouble figuring out online retail…). Then we finally went to another store, and had to wait four weeks for the rug because someone keyed it in wrong the first time.
In the Bellevue garden department, the kids running the register literally sighed and huffed every time someone would ask for help. Seriously?!
We absolutely love True Value and McLendon’s, but the reality is that these stores don’t always have what we need for all of our new projects in our new home… We try to stay away from Home Depot, but find that we have no other alternative sometimes.

MrJTMemberI have to agree that both Edward and Borjas are about the only hope for decent help in Home Depot!
